excel parking- not displaying ticket?

Hi all, this is my first time on here, ive read through a few other threads but couldnt find what i was looking for so im hoping you might be able to help me.
I recieved a ticket from excel parking for not displaying a ticket, i used there car park for a 15 minutes period (when you get half an hour free) i was un aware that u needed to display a ticket. I tryed to appeal it as it stated on my ticket they saw my car at 11.35am and issued me a ticket at 11.45am, a 10 minute period even though you get half an hour free. i literally went into boots to purchase nappys with my 2 young children and came straight out as i do every week and have done for over 2 years, i dont use this car park for anything else- there for have never purchased a ticket there before. There wanting me to pay £100 for a free 15 minute period i used the car park.
Do i have a leg to stand on with this or do i need to pay up?
I look forward to some responses

Nope you don't have to pay, ignore them and have a read around the stickies and the forum to see that the best course of action is too ignore them.
You may be interested in reading this one where Excel tried to enforce a pay and display ticket, and got spanked so I don't think they will be hurrying to try with a free one!!

Simply ignore them. If the car park is free they haven't suffered any loss from you not displaying a ticket.
And Excel were put through the mill the other day in court. They know their signage is inadequate and it's in their interests to make it so.
Relax and ignore the templated junk mail they'll send you.0 -
All private parking 'tickets' are fake, this is a well-known scam on here.
You should read 'PPC letters, what to expect' (top permanent sticky info thread) and 'welcome, please read before posting' also near the top:

The PPC letters thread will show you what rubbish the registered keeper will be bombarded with - you can just laugh and play snap with each expected threatogram. Debt collector and 'solicitor' letter-headings are part of the mail scam but nothing happens, no effect on credit rating as it's obviously not a real fine.
The other thread I mentioned has a link to Watchdog, make sure you and your family watch that clip and learn what a clued-up specialist solicitor would do if any of his relatives received a bogus PCN like that.
I am surprised you found nothing about this matter on here! You may like to read any thread on that first page - it's updated with new queries like yours every single day as this con is soooo rife. Even worse, universities, supermarkets and other retailers currently all blindly support the scammers by allowing them to infest their car parks, seemingly oblivious to the fact that it's all a con based on mail threats.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
CLICK at the top or bottom of any page where it says:

Private = ignore, ignore, ignore some more.
Absolutely every other detail is completely irrelevant.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why then you're as thick and stupid as the moderators on here - MSE ForumTeam0
