Sounds like they Know How to damage a dish washer0

Can't bear to read this thread. I bought a dishwasher on 31st March. Have had 4 engineer visits this week, none of which ended with a successful installation. It's a long and frustrating story. Spent hours on the phone. Today's engineer's turned up with no machine at all and left me with a leak and flooded kitchen. Can I get anyone there to do anything? No. Have said i want my money back and don't want the machine. In the meantime looks like I need to get a plumber out.0

Engineers today told me they have to deal with these sorts of problems every day and nobody communicates.0

Hi! Forum newbie here. I've made an account specifically to share my own terrible experience of Currys and Knowhow (Knownowt?)
I ordered a dishwasher online on March 30th, and chose the earliest delivery date (Tuesday 7th April). Booked time off work to take delivery etc, but Knowhow rang me on the day to say the dishwasher had been badly damaged in transit and the drivers were not prepared to deliver it. (sounds suspiciously similar to markgirvan's story).
Fair enough I thought, and rearranged the delivery for Thursday 9th. The blokes arrived at 8.30am with the dishwasher - great...well, no, not really. After unpacking it I found a huge crack in the top, and the top itself was noticeably loose. I called Knowhow straight away and requested a replacement, which was booked in for Sunday 13th (yesterday).
Again, Knowhow turned up within my allocated timeslot, but this time with the WRONG DISHWASHER. I knew there would be problems straight away as the one they took off the lorry was silver, whereas the one I ordered was white. I told them I'd be happy to accept the silver one - a quick google search indicated it's £100 more than the one I bought. Worth a try at least! Not to mention the fact that I'd unplumbed the damaged one and moved it to the back door so didn't really fancy doing it all again. But they explained my warranty would be void if I took the silver one and anything broke, as my receipt says I have a white one with a different model number. So probably not worth it.
I sent them away after agreeing to yet another redelivery, this time on Saturday (18th). I've since changed my mind and will be phoning them tonight to request my money back. There is an independent retailer where I live, so I will use them and help the local economy in the process!
I've tried publicly shaming them on Facebook, but it doesn't look like they ever respond on there (or only to the positive comments!). I've also posted a letter of complaint this morning. I've never experienced such a shambolic attempt at home delivery. To be fair to the delivery drivers who brought the wrong one, they were very sympathetic to my situation and tried to sort things out with head office, to no avail. Even the people on the phone at Knowhow seem to be friendly enough. But there is clearly something fundamentally wrong somewhere if they can mess up a simple dishwasher delivery so much.
Worth pointing out that I ordered a fridge-freezer and cooker at the same time from different retailers, both of which arrived on time and undamaged.0 -
Hi Bam317
They will reply to you on twitter and facebook but nothing actually comes of it, in my experience. I'm waiting for a refund because I cancelled my order, but they have texted me today to say they are delivering on 16th April. Best of luck to them. I won't be in and I'm not going to phone CS again to explain.0 -
Ordered a dishwasher and paid the install fee just for the convenience of not having to cart it into my car, through the house and wiggle it furiously into the space.
They came on time, were very polite, installed the dishwasher, set it running and left.
After the cycle finished I opened it to find lots of soggy paper inside, as they hadn't bothered to remove any of the labels that all still just about legibly stated "please remove before starting the machine".
Sounds like I got off lightly!0 -
Wish I had read this thread before I brought my washing machine from Currys. My woes (fingers crossed) are not too bad compared to others on here. Washing machine was delivered, I paid extra to have the old one taken away, 69 year old husband at home with a bad back. Delivery driver turns up on his own, so hubby had to help him move the machine over the front step. Result hubby in agony all evening with his back and a great lump taken out of the lino on the kitchen floor. Not happy! Is it worth complaining and to who?
Thanks0 -

As you husband 'assisted', could Currys reasonably blame him for causing the damage?
Anyway, the damage should've been pointed out at the time.0 -
Oh he'd been and gone by the time that was noticed. My moan is that they shouldn't expect one person to hump the machine out of his own. I paid extra for that service and did not expect anyone to have to help him.0

I personally think with these large companies the best thing to do is just order it to the store and collect yourself. They are constantly going to let you down.
taking a day off work to wait for your machine isn't a good use of your time. On a weekend you could easily rent/borrow/remove the back seats of your car/stick it in an Uber XL/large taxi etc, go into a store and have it back to yours within the hour.0
