Many people have never learned or practised what to do in a skid as it's not part of 'standard' learning to drive ie. pass the test, and not all of us have helpful relatives etc for extra info. I only learnt about it through advanced driver training.
(Which was fantastic, by the way - didn't pass it first go but will be going back - http://www.roada.org/drivers/index.htm in case anyone's interested.)

i wasnt going very fast and i just dont see any other reason as to why the car would skid like that. I must admit where it happened is a bad corner and slightly downhill. the road was damp but i still dont see how i skidded like i did! it was as if the breaks locked or something.
My money would be on diesel on the road surface..........“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Was it dark? Are their farmers around? Any chance the road was covered in mud? If so, are their signs up to warn you? If not the landowner could be in trouble.
Having done advanced on road and skid training though, I can say it is rather useful.

Are you bigjl in disguise?
What a stupid post.

Bike friend skidded on "special mud" at the entrance to a farmers field, wrote off the bike and sent him 50ft hurtling through the air into a field, it was 10:30pm and pitch black, using only moon light he managed to scramble to his feet, find his phone and call the emergency services despite 3 broken ribs and a fractured collar bone...... I don't think he'd call ^^ that "stupid".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Are we talking s*** (literally)?
In that case, I apologise, the laughing thing made me think it was a mickey take of some description. Jokes don't always comve over easy on thet'interwebs.
Credit where it is due, you might be right as well.
OP - does the car smell a bit?

No i was in the town centre so im afraid theres no "special mud" i imagine it was probably diesel, apparantly its a bad road anyway and at least 1 person does the same thing every week! just my bad luck!
At the moment it look like its a write off as i have spoken to the bloke at the garage and he said its the airbags that are costly to replace, the rest of the damage to the car wasnt that bad. I'll know more when they have done an estimate for the repairs.
:mad:0 -
Also just wondering, if it is classed as a write off will i be able to claim back road tax?
theres about 8 months left on it, i may as well claim it if ii can but not sure if your allowed0 -
If it's a write off then arrange with the garage to collect the tax disc and anything else in the car.The man without a signature.0
