OP, the rep was just trying to sign you up for the next 2 years by fobbing you off with complete and utter rubbish and to be honest I would be quite peed off with 3 for such a tactique.
Iphone 5 is just a rumour at this time (and it is a phone), he should have told you that and not tell you there definitely isn't one or any other new Iphone version coming - until it is confirmed either way.
With this being the situation you are taking a risk - either sign up now and be done with it, or wait a little longer... but question is how much longer? At first we thought the announcement will be in June - like every year, now it is rumoured for October... whether that will happen... it is just a rumour ATM!!
I am going for 4 personally, probably soon (due upgrade as of yesterday) as thanks to the rumour people are not buying until they know and so over the past 2 mths O2 already took down the part payments for the phone for 2 tariffs... It might go down further, it might not.. I'll see how long I last with my patience.. :-)
Not bothered about the 5 or what it will be personaly, it will just be expensive as new things always are.. I rather pay reasonable amount for good quality then over the top for newest things..0 -
I can't believe that Apple staff can keep their gobs shut about release dates, despite being sworn to secrecy. It's human nature to blabber. Isn't it? I mean when software goes live, software goes live and everyone works late. That's a clue for a date surely?0

Apple staff don't get told anything until the very last minute, that's why! If they did it'd leak because as you said, people can't keep their mouths shut and Apple know it!0

There are probably less than 5 people within Apple who know the release date at this point though. Apple Retail is VERY low down the chain!0 -
Rumours on macrumors.com staes many different rumours from production only just starting, problems sourcing parts and the latest is production delays causing supply problems well into 2012. The fact that Apple has not had a formal launch at WDCC is an indication that there are major problems with this years version (Apple religously launch the new iPhone at WDCC each year). We are two weeks of the rumoured 7th Oct launchdate and still no annoucement.
With Xmas coming up I reckon Apple would be pumping production in products like iPod, iPad, Macbook etc particularly with iCloud launching. I wouldn't be surprised if launch is put back to 2012, would love to be proved wrong though
What is WDCC?0 -
Apparently samsung may try and block its sale if it violates samsungs patents.0
