Nothing, I think they are far too busy to worry about a £90 bounced cheque.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. i would send the buyer a letter before action giving them 7 days to pay. insist of postal orders or a bankers draft. this way they would have either pay the Post Office for the postal orders or have the money in their bank to be able to issue a bankers draft.
if they dont pay then go through the small claims0 -
I seem to be a little outdated with checks, looks like I have learnt something today.
Anyways the reason why I say chase Royal Mail is because if they have a issue with the postman then it would avoid the litigation.
I dont know if the Police would act in your matter, there appears to be some kind of fraud.
What is the chance the person has intentionally sent the bad check.0 -
Just out of curiosity, which bank is the cheque from?
If it's Lloyds TSB, and you also have a LTSB account (or open one) it usually clears instantly, so you'd know instantly0 -

And then inform the buyer sue royal mail for not delivering the goods, and falsifying the records.
You won't be able to take civil action against RM as the Postal service act states that they are exempt from this.90. Exclusion of liability

(b)any omission to carry out arrangements for the collection of anything to be conveyed by post.
(2)No officer, servant, employee, agent or sub-contractor of a universal service provider shall be subject, except at the suit or instance of the provider, to any civil liability for—
(a)any loss or damage in the case of which liability of the provider is excluded by subsection (1), or
(b)any loss of, or damage to, an inland packet to which section 91 applies.0
