Further to my British Airways non existant military discount. I managed to get a reply from them via twitter. They said:Sorry - we do not offer this any more. Thank you for your comments. I then pointed out they offer it to US military, their reply:Sorry we are unable to offer this, ***** and to disappoint you.
So BRITISH Airways refuse to support our military, thanks a lot. Virgin do as do many more however, they are not unique to the military but I suppose better than nothing. BA should be ashamed.

Perhaps the're having a huff as they no longer get the contract for the Gibralter & US Troopers?

Quite possibly Andy, perhaps if they offered a discount or priced competatively they would get the gig. Many other carriers, equally as good are much cheaper. I for one will certainly not be using BA again. The bit that grips my poo is that they give it to the US military, even the ones based in the UK and flying to the states... Perhaps this is one crusade Martin Lewis can take up.
  • Does anyone know if the discount that O2 (or any other mobile provider) does extend to veterans? Guess certificate of service is the only way to prove it though....
Trying to remain free of unsecured debt and build up some savings.

Have done CeFA and CeMAP exams but no longer regulated.

Aye, Forces Personnel are 2nd rate citizens in this country. However, if your a work shy sponging student you get all the discounts.

Perhaps Martin L would like to take the issue up with BA? How about the families federation? The fact that BA give US military discounts and not UK really does stick in my throat.

The US treat their servicemen much better than us and have an entirely different attitude to them - I know of one UK service person who was over in the US recently, and as he was waiting (in uniform) for his hire car someone came up to him completely out of the blue and said "Sir, I would just like to shake your hand and thank you for helping to protect our country." and walked away again. Can't see that happening in the UK somehow!

Totally agree but this is British Airways treating UK military personnel differently. I have been exposed to the American way and they are rightly proud of their's. If BA don't want to support UK troops then perhaps they should drop the British from their name. Rest assured I will be flying Virgin from now on as will quite a few of my colleagues.

Was in uniform and got a free coffee and doughnut at a BP Wild Bean yesterday. Did not even ask for it and had money in my hand - cashier refused to accept it.

Left with a tear in my eye...............(I was going to have a large one with 2 doughnuts but changed my mind!!).
