Mobile Phone PAYG - No Contract

I am pretty sure that it is rather a chargeable call/text every 6 month than a top up. All networks operate such policy, but it has to be more frequent than every 6 months at some networks.
Agreed. TescoMobile T&Cs para 5.4 says they will disconnect is the phone is not used for six months. It doesn't actually say what "use" means but I would take it to mean doing something chargeable - it certainly doesn't mean you need to top up. I've been with them for nearly 6 years and have had very few problems.

Their "Lite" tarfiff says the same http://phone-shop.tesco.com/tesco-mobile/about-us/terms-payg-litetariff.aspx0 -
On Vodafone, like some of the others mentioned, you just need to make a chargeable call every 6 months. I have a couple of SIMs which I haven't topped up for years, I just make a call every 5 months or so to keep them alive and they're still working fine.0
