Mobile Phone PAYG - No Contract

Hi,
Could anyone please advise me if there is a provider who operates a PAYG plan with no minimum use policy. I was told by Tesco mobile yesterday that I would need to top up my credit by £10 every 6 months or my number would be suspended. I have spent ages searching the T & C pages for various providers policies, but its like looking for a needle in a haystack!
Thanks
Ian

You have to ask, what would be in it for the networks? at a 10p call every six months, it would still be cheap to run the mobile from even at £20 per year that is still cheap .0

Orange might work?3.4 We will disconnect your Device if during the previous six months, you have not Registered a new Top Up or you have not made chargeable calls from your Device or received incoming calls on your Device. For the avoidance of doubt calls shall include but not be limited to voice calls, data calls and text messaging. On disconnection your mobile telephone number will be reassigned. On Re-connection you will be assigned a new mobile telephone number. Orange may at its discretion, on request and on Re-connection to the Services, re-credit the amount remaining on your account at the time it was disconnected.
3.5 You can Re-connect your Device without having credit on your Top Up.
3.6 No cash credits will be given for unused Top Ups.
3.7 We reserve the right to refuse to accept debit or credit card payments.
so you would just need to make a connected call to a device with sim?0 -
I am pretty sure that it is rather a chargeable call/text every 6 month than a top up. All networks operate such policy, but it has to be more frequent than every 6 months at some networks.Ian_Drummond wrote: »I was told by Tesco mobile yesterday that I would need to top up my credit by £10 every 6 months or my number would be suspended.0 -
Orange do from 10p top up instore

Also if your usage changes it cheapest payg option:
http://www1.orange.co.uk/service_plans/payasyougo/extra_overview.html?WT.mc_id=Extras_0810
^The £5 100 mins charges you 5p per minute outside the 100 mins within the 30 day 100 min "extra" purchase, same for all mins or text - its 24hrs/7days/monthly as per the bought extra the rate runs on till the end of the period if you use your full EXTRA included allowance, your balance is just deducted as per the EXTRA rate out of the bundle for the period the extra was validSO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

It is an OFCOM requirement. O2 used to let users have 12 months with no activity and still 'count' them as a subscriber. This meant some networks were loading their consumer stats for mobiled that weren't being used. The OFCOM requirement brought everyone into line, so with uniformity, the statistics are balanced. YOu will need to top-up every 180 days to ensure connectivity remains.0

I have an Orange PAYG sim in an older phone and I usually only put £5 on it a year. I use it for Orange Wednesday but make the odd text or call to make sure I keep it active, my dad does the same with his. Also as said with Orange you can top up for as little as 10p and that should keep it active as well.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy

Vodafone it's a chargeable call every 6 months, as in speak to someone not just let it ring out and hang up (but was advised best to do it every 3 months, since the number re-allocation can start anytime between 3 & 6 months).
So a quick few second call every 3 months is all that's needed and I thought O2 was the same. So your £10 will last months if not years if all you do is this.
My Dad is on GiffGaff and hasn't top-up this year, my Vodafone hasn't been top-up this year. So it's not top-up every 6 months it's make a chargeable call in that time.0 -

thats not what the Orange T&Cs state?0 -
Orange's T&C's are irrelevant in this situation, as it the Regulator that stipulates the terms of counting active mobiles. If Orange wish to give a year before turning off a mobile, good for them, but they still cannot count it as an active subscriber unless there had been a chargeable interaction within that timeframe.0
