    Not always :D

OMG you do not know how long I have been looking for this page, I found it a while ago but could not for the life of me find it again.

    Thanks so much.
  • I think that page is very deceptive as it gives the impression that student loans and bursaries are available for an Access course when they are not.

    Taken from the page:

Entry requirements for the Access to Nursing Course

The Foundation programme is aimed at individuals who may have few or no formal qualifications but who can demonstrate a clear commitment to pursuing a career within their chosen profession. Personal, professional and educational experiences will be considered to determine motivation and ability to progress onto the degree programme. This means that your life experience and the extent that you are determined to pass the course will also be taken into account. This is when being a mature student can act in your favour!

So they don't ask for GCSEs? I thought that was where we were getting to? Or is this not the course you meant?

Yes I do know this but the college course I am wanting to apply for does need 3 gcse's... it is in my local college. Do not forget though all diploma's are now becoming degree's
  • As you are trying to get into nursing have you tried to get a career development loan from a bank to pay for the course?

That's a very bad idea; repayments for CDLs start straight after you finish the course, even if you're still a student.

why not self-study and just find a centre to take the exams? harder if you have practicals or coursework but there are colleges/schools around that will allow you to sit.

Is this even possible? I was told by ICS I had to take a course for atleast 6 month prior to even be eligable for the exam
  • you can get grants for the open university. Me and my oh are going to do a course this year and my friends already doing one. Not sure if they do GCSE courses though , i have only looked at the social care courses.
