Halifax computer system after last weekend changes

Just checked my reward current account on-line this morning (17 September) and find that according to them it is already 19 September as there is a transaction for that date already entered. (It is a debit card transaction which has alreready happened and which would previously have been taken from what they show as "available balance" but not actually entered into the account. )
Phoned them and asked them if they knew what date it is today, then asked why the account is already showing trascactions for Monday. After much explanation about why it is correct for them to deem the 19th has already arrived, we get to the crux that it is "our new system". If they want to show it immediately rather than as a "hold" on the "available balance", why can't they show the actual transaction date?
Not at all happy with this but am I worrying over nothing? Just a bit of concerned with the precedent this seems to be setting of making actual account entries in advance as I keep a close eye on my balance and only transfer funds as needed to avoid charges.

You are worrying over nothing. Today is Monday in banks terms, so it happens, not just with Halifax either.0

This policy has always been in place for RBS & Natwest.
The T&Cs state cleared funds should be in a account the working before the DD or S/O is due to leave the account.
So do not worry its standard practice for most banks.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
Agree that it's a strange way of working.
But all that they are saying is that this transaction will be taken on Monday. They aren't claiming that it's Monday already, just that this debit card transaction that you did earlier this week is going to leave the account then.0 -
Thanks for your quick replies, folks.0

This was another change I noticed with the Halifax system this week. Previously, when a credit was made to the account it always showed as the first transaction on that date but now it's appearing in strict chronlogical order i.e. the DDs show first and then the credit. I wonder if this is a preliminary to imposing charges for being OD for part of a day?
To honest im not sure what order they do there transactions. Im sure another poster may be able to shed some light on it for you.
It appears they may do the debits before the credits? within the RBS group its the other way round.
Can anyone shed any light??Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

You are worrying about nothing, truly don't. The same though is for credits, any Bank Credits due on Monday will show on a Saturday too.0 -
Pink Dalek, I'm not sure this last paragraph is trueDF0

Yeah Nationwide does the same ok so they're a building society but seems to be the general rule of thumb. Not sure bout credits being shown on a Saturday if not due to Monday - don't really see how that would work!!:hello: Oh to come back as as fish - love to be 'under the sea' :j0

Since the banks receive the money on Friday night, not Sunday night, the credit should always appear and be available to spend on Saturday. But many banks don't.
This is why many benefits are payable on Monday. The Treasury loves to stitch up the public in favour of its chums in the City."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
