  • Selling insurance like that is against FSA regulations so I would be very surprised if this tactic worked.

What exactly is against the rules?
  • It costs the salesperson to do cashback, it would cost to 'pay' for insurance. If the person cancelled the insurance there would be an even bigger loss. No point paying someone to take a contract. Its just stupid.
  • If people can't afford £400, I suggest it's not a good idea to enter into £31-a-month 24 month contracts! Better to live within your means I think and keep out of debt, especially when very capable phones are available for around £100 (Orange San Francisco).
  • rang vodafone retentions in the end as phones4u didnt want to play ball, £21pm is more like it, saving me £267 compared to the phones4u offer.thanks for all your posts.

You have certain requirements as a sales person to sell insurance. One of them is to make a suitable recommendation. If too many of your customers cancel before the 14 day cooling off period, they deem that requirement as not fulfilled and you can get into serious trouble. The old 'carrot' method was very, very frowned upon at Carphone, anyone using these kind of tactics to achieve targets got into an awful lot of trouble, I've known reps to lose their jobs by flaunting FSA requirements.
