I think eat more is probably the answer. Because so many of my usual meals involve the heartburn triggers, I'm a bit lost at the mo as to what to eat! So quite often I'll just have something like a cheese roll for dinner, and I guess it's catching up with me? Last night I made the effort and actually cooked something, and ate it later.

P.s. just been texting the other half.. 'did they want you to go to the hospital for something?'. Why do I bother sending him full reports of exactly what goes on in my midwife appointments, as they don't get read?!

Hmmm.. worth making a diary of when you get the worst heartburn, so you can see the triggers. For me,a cheese roll would be a big no no. I've identified bread products as the main culprit, so no pizza, rolls, sarnies etc for me at all., or i'll be up all night.
Pasta and potatos are much much better. A good bowl of pasta or a jacket spud should stop the crash, and not give you the burn.

Some of mine that i've noticed are tomatoes, peppers, citrus fruits and chocolate (can't give that one up!). So jacket potato with beans is borderline, as the potato works, but the tomato sauce gives me slight heartburn. I used to do a lot of pasta sauces with tomato and peppers, or Quorn done with tomato and peppers and so on... see the recurring theme? :D Add to that, for some reason ever since I got pregnant, bread makes me rather nauseous, there's one particular brand of rolls that agrees with me but that's about it. So anything like beans or egg on toast doesn't appeal. One of the best meals is some nice cooked chicken, potatoes and plain green veg, but I mainly get that from the other half's mum, my cooker is on its last legs and I don't trust the oven to cook meat properly.

I did mostly live on jacket potatoes till the heartburn really kicked in!
  • Hi all. No news yet, and I am booked in to be induced on Sunday 18th December. A trip to the hospital on Tuesday night, due to some pre-eclampsia symptoms, revealed that my cervix is still hard and has not dilated at all. No pre-eclampsia though, which was such a relief.

So I'm afraid I'm going to be a boldie for quite a while, probably.

Jacket potatoes with cheese are my saviour! I lived off them mainly for 5 months until my morning/noon and night sickness stopped!

    RebekahR - great news! Congratulations!

My doppler just arrived. Decided to have a peak and a quick go, but couldn't find/hear the heartbeat. Will try this evening when OH is back. I am so tired, I have been trying to nap since about 1.30pm, but everytime I am just about to drop off, someone has to call (well, I am working from home today, fair enough), mail arrived with the biggest band, then the doppler parcel... Maybe i should be back in bed, so my other parcels would arrive today as well.

  • Ginvzt - when I first got my Doppler it took me ages to find the heartbeat and it was super frustrating. I eventually found it at about 18 weeks.

Well I'm back and I am physically and mentally exhausted. Any money I got from my tax rebate has completely gone  bank card will probably melt soon.

Plus side everything I had to buy is bought, all presents, all wrapping paper, cards etc. My £100+ of Boots points are gone too.

Also got goaded into buying a Christmas tree from OH, he was moaning and whinging for a week about getting one, so we have one now and decorations.

I now plan on sinking into the sofa and not moving, for hours and hours and hours.
The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.

Right the nap. I managed not to get woken up. So, only just woke up. Now, I haven't done all the work I had to today, and I am not sure I can manage it now with my sleepy brain...

32week Midwife appointment done and dusted!! All is well with my boy. He's lying head down, which is why i'm probably feeling all kinds of pushing down there now. More glucose in urine, but i've had the GTT, so that's fine.
And he gave a kick when she was prodding around to feel how he was lying haha :)
