Well I'm still joint 18th after the boldies6 weeks today until I become a boldie :j I am back to work tomorrow after a week off with my back and hips. I've got 3 weeks or 11 working days to go and I think I can manage that in my sleep deprived state. This week off has been THE longest week ever as I just physically can't do much, it's very frustrating
Blimey WW, we're getting close eh? Do you feel ready? Any inkling whether you'll be on time? I think emotionally I'm ready and just need to finish a few bits off to be practically ready, am getting v excited. I reckon I'll be late though - my bump is quite small still and my cycles were long-ish so kind of got it in my head I'll be late... Saying that, loads of people round here seem to have gone early recently so who knows!!0 -
Hi everyone,
Just found the time to update as having a new baby is very time consuming!
I'm now the proud mum of a beautiful baby boy, born on Wednesday the 26th October - name tbc.
Lots to do - no-one can prepare you for the sudden change in lifestyle lol - but they are worth it. Won't be posting a birth story as it was really awful and no point dwelling on it - the main thing is we're all home, happy and healthy.
Congratuations to everyone who announced while I was MIA. I's sure I'll see youall over on the parenting thread. And labour vibes to all who are close - for me it happened suddenly so expect the unexpected.0 -

Good morning ladies and bumps, good to see u back Gilly xxx
Right busy day i'm still going through lists, i'm list obsessed, sorting out xmas stuff, baby stuff and redoing the lounge xxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
Congrats Basscadette!
I'm annoyed, as DH's ex texted on Sat to ask if DSD had spoken to us about a school trip? No, she hadn't- we wouldn't even be picking her up for 8 hours at that point!
Ex said she'd been caught short, and needed money for DSD's trip next year- £80 due on Monday. DH transfers money every week into an account for DSD- ex spends it every week. None is saved. He asked if she needed help, could she not use the money he transferred a couple of days ago? She's already spent it.
Annoyed, as DSD now thinks she can't go unless DH pays, chat courtesty of the ex, and we've had no notice- £80 is a fair bit when I'm about to go on mat leave. We don't really have it, and ex has joined the gym recently, and is always buying DSD new clothes. DSD has stuff in her wardrobe with tags still on it, as she's never had a chance to wear it, tempted to ask ex if she could sell some of that to make the money up.
In fairness, she has never asked for extra money before, but DH reckons if she gets once, he will be asked again. Neither of us want to deny DSD the trip, but ex has no forward planning in regards to money, and spends as soon as she gets. Plus, I think it's very unfair she has told DSD and put the onus on DH to pay.
What do you think? I've said if DH wants, give her £20 or a nominal figure, and tell her it's all we can afford. I'd love to tell her to go jump, but it is a trip for DSD.0 -
Morning ladies!
Congratulations Bascadette & MamaMoo. Look at all those boys now  loads!
On the sick front, I've not been sick my whole pregnancy either, but was sick on the plane yesterday, into one of those little bags too!! Was far too warm and I felt groggy the whole way, just before I landed, I couldn't hold it in any longer
On the donating things, my friend was so embarrassed and took her ages to ask me if I'd like some of her little boys stuff that he's grown out of, he's 11 weeks and just out of newborn things  how little is he! She said she was afraid I'd be offended? I nearly snatched the arm off her to say yes
Lirin If you can I'd try and scrape the money together, but tell the ex in no uncertain terms, that you've had to go without something to give and it's a one off, it won't be happening again! The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Lirin can you not pay (if you can afford it) and just not pay any money into the account for a few weeks until its evened out? kinda like an advance on maintenance if that makes sense? No idea really what to say as never been in that position before, but its not fair on the Ex to make it out to be your and hubbys problem when its actually her poor budgetting thats done it!
Mamamoo, congrats, they are my 2 favourite names in the world as I have a nephew Dylan and a hubby called Wayne (and the nephew is much cuter than the hubby)
Lovecrafting: I would be livid for the same reasons you are, I hope it all blows over and she gets her act together and quick otherwise its going to be a nightmare which you really dont need. Hugs and lots of them!
Eta Lirin, didnt see the bit about ex joining the gym and buying DSD clothes that have never been worn. would go with well £x is all i can afford as money is tight here at the moment and unfortunatly would feel the need to have a money chat with DSD explaining that as well. Which i dont know how you feel about but I think kids and their parents finances are none of the kids business, but the last thing I would want is DSD feeling pushed out or her mum saying well if Dad wasnt having a new baby he would have been able to afford it IYSWIM.0 -
Thanks guys- we're very open with DSD. We've already explained to DSD, and will see how it goes. Personally I think it's the short notice that's the cheeky part, and the way she approached it.
Gilly, I've thought, by the time yours is born, mine should be growing out of those age group in clothes- you're more than welcome to raid anytime you like if it works out that way?
On the subject of sick, all weekend i've felt weird- trying to work out whether it is lack of sleep (7-8 hours since Thursday), or just stress from work. Probably both!
Sitting with DSD explaining the finer points of Formula 1 now....0 -
Congrats Basscaddette :j Sorry to hear you had a rough time, but I'm glad all is ok now.
BM, I would be FURIOUS with my OH if he did that. Fair enough going out, staying out, but I expect a text message every few hours to let me know he is ok. When my OH goes out he texts me every 2-3 hours, just a short one to say 'hey, just checking in, at such and such, text you again later.' It doesn't take much effort and puts my mind at rest, especially now I am pg as I have this irrational fear of something happening to him and me being left on my own with a baby.Blue_Monkey wrote: »Blimey WW, we're getting close eh? On one hand I feel ready and just want it to be now, on the other hand I feel completely incompetent and worry I won't know how to feed/bath/care for baby and am panicking :rotfl: I think I'll go over just because I so don't want to. I was 2 weeks late and born in the early hours of Boxing Day, so I'm thinking my baby will do the same to me. I really want to go at 38 weeks though. OH and I are both getting impatient and the weeks seem to be draggingseafarers_wife wrote: »Lirin can you not pay (if you can afford it) and just not pay any money into the account for a few weeks until its evened out? kinda like an advance on maintenance if that makes sense?
That is what I would do Lirin, because as your OH has said if you d it once she will expect it again. I would pay the money directly to the school and make sure ex knows that £x will be deducted from her maintenance each week/month until you are paid back the £80. That way DSD still gets her trip and ex might learn a lesson that you and your OH are not a money pit.
I am waiting for my cooked brekkie which OH makes every Sunday, and watching F1. Then I'm going to hop in the shower and have a clean upstairs as OH is going out on his bike with his mate. I used to do the whole house in one go but it takes too much out of me now, so I have to do it in stages.
I've been wracking my brains for Christmas presents for OH, and asked him last night if there was anything he would like, he said he just wants me and baby to be well :happyhear Aaah, nearly made me cry
On another note, I've been taking RLT capsules for the past couple of weeks and they have done wonders for my constipation :j0
