Are there certain jobs that are affected by bankruptcy

My question is for a friend who does not want her ex partner to go bankrupt as they have a joint mortage and she wants to stay in the house with the children. The debts are solely in his name but if he goes bankrupt they could force her to sell to get to his share of the equity in the house. He is a prison warden and has been for 10 years so she was wondering if this could stop him as he would not want to lose his job?0

hiya
i think the reason the forces are not allowed to go bankrupt is because they are then seen to be at a higher risk of possibly being targeted by criminals to be given back handers or something like that
You can't get a YES if you don't ask?

A friend of mine repairs Aircraft for the MOD. He is not in the forces, but his contract specifically states that he is not permitted to go BR either.
He is going down an IVA route and the reasons his bosses mentioned are as above - he is deemed a security risk by being BR0 -
A couple of others that spring to mind are - company director and any authorised role under the FSA (such as IFA or Mort Advice)0

Just to say that it is not `cut & dry` with regard to serving Police Officers, as I am aware of Bankrupt serving officers, although it may be down to each individual case, and relevant Police Forces interpretation.10 1p's are better than no 10p's !!! :think:

Found this, if it's any helpThere are certain jobs you cannot have if you are an undischarged bankrupt: Company Director (or concerned directly or indirectly in the management of a company), MP, Councillor, Magistrate or Estate Agent. A bankrupt usually can't be a school or college governor and there are restrictions under charity law as to the role a bankrupt can serve on management committees.
Security firms may not wish to employ an undicharged bankrupt, particularly where money is involved. And the same applies to the civil service. The rules for professions such as solicitors and accountants make it virtually impossible for people who've been bankrupted to work in these professions.
For a sole trader the effects can be even greater. Whilst bankruptcy does not necessarily mean the busines will close, continuing to trade will be made more difficult:
If the business needs credit, the requirement for the debtor to disclose that he is an undischarged bankrupt will make suppliers unlikely to provide credit;
The bankruptcy order will be advertisied locally, which could damage the reputation of the business in addition to that of its proprietor;
The debtor cannot trade under a name other than the one under which he was made bankrupt;
If items of business equipment are used by the debtor's employees rather than the debtor personally, exemption from sale cannot be claimed and the trustee may order them sold. This also includes stock in trade which the trustee can sell on behalf of the bankrupt's estate.One day I might be more organised...........

As long as he informs his HR department of what is happening, he will not lose his job.
