Guys
I've finally got the OH to agree to a holiday given we've not had one for 2 years and it's been a hard year!
I want to go to the above places however while I can afford 2 weeks i don't wish to leave our kitten for that long!
The reason for the above 2 places is for scuba diving mainly
Would you go to either for 7 days? due to the flight time?
I wont do egypt because I am a total food snob
Cheers guys
I had heard that the coral in the Caribbean was in terrible condition, so scuba diving there might well be a disappointment.0 -
We have + would do again as long as we had a full 7 nights in resort, so it would really need about 8 or 9 days all in including flying time0

It nice to see that some posters jump to the conclusion that I'd would be stay AI
In the maldives there pretty much no choice because your on an island you can walk around in 15 mins. Yes I know you can go FB HB but it's still on the island!
If I go to mexico it will be to Cozumel and staying in a Condo.
So now that's cleared up!
Thank you to the people that answered my questions0 -

I know it's pretty awful in some areas of the Caribbean but Cozumel...it's in a different league!

OP if you decide on Mexico then I would recommend Playa del Carmen instead of Cancun. It is a much more relaxed resort and still has some Mexican charm.
Have a look at this forum dedicated to it: http://www.playa.info/
Thanks matey. I think I will be tripping over to playa as love the nightlife
Plus that website is really good!0 -

However, the Maldives has about as much misery and poverty as the UK:
That much, shocking..............0 -
Been to both, did a week both times... If I had the option of going to either places again it'd be Maldives without a doubt.0

if you are looking for night life then i wouldn't recommend the Maldives. Wonderful place but only if you like sunbathing, swimming, reading etc. I didn't dive but imagine it would be good.0 -
Having been to both for 2 weeks
Maldives FAR FAR better for scuba. Nightlife non existant though. Maldives, you can stand in thigh deep water and the fish all come up to say hello. Never had that in Mexico.
Mexico scuba is okay. Nightlife VERY good.
BTW, we did HB in Maldives - ate very well. Large buffet breakfast - take a few bits of fruit + bread for lunch - large dinner. Only got a bowl of chips to share a couple of days when we were peckish.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?
