Exceeding Download Usage

We have had an e-mail from our Broadband provider saying that we had exceeded our download usage allowance by 3.5 GB.

Is this because we've been watching too many 'Movie Trailers' and 'You Tube' clips??

Because we don't download music or films etc.

Thanks.

Thanks for that espresso. We are with BT and our limit was 2GB, but they are putting it up to 5GB next month, so we should be ok then.

They are not going to charge us for our extra usage, but to make sure we don't exceed it again we shall download 'Netmeter' and not watch quite so many 'You Tube' clips!!

    Thanks again.

£17.99 per mth for a 2Gb per mth limit is shocking, I recon (not worked it out) that it would be cheaper to download 2Gb over dialup (downside being the speed)

NO this is because you are being totally ripped off. Im fortunate where my BB provider offers me unlimited downloads, 10Meg BB speed for less than £10 a month.

If you are in a cable area, you can get 2Mb broadband with no usage limit for £10/month. See HERE

I got a similar letter from BT back in January. back then they wanted £1 per GB my bill was £150 for the november and £120 for december 2005. I had a 20GB limit my downloading was a little extreme I think. I decided to leave BT internet/openworld/yahoo what every name they couldnt decide upon and signed up with a BTClick business connection, yeah its a little more expensive but I have no worries about how much I use it. I run a few websites from my server on the connection so bandwidth usesage is huge.

i am with bulldog, and they blatantly cap the useage, even though they claim its unlimited.

there 6 of us living together, using the same connection, 4 dj's all of whom d/l a lot of tunes every day, this amounts to a lot over the month and after the first 2 weeks of the month the speed its back down to dial up speeds.

not good seeing as we pay £40 per month for 8meg!

any suggestions for a truly unlimited company with no speed regulations??

or any way to prove to bulldog they are doing this?? they deny its possible to do this.

£40 a month for 8MB! I thought I was lazy, not looking around for a better deal than my £14.49 8MB Plusnet contract (which started totally unlimited but then they slipped in a 'peak-time' limit of 4GB with an 'off-peak' limit of 50GB.
