Had a phone call from BT saying that they can offer high speed internet now in our area and were we interested? Said we can have first 3 months for £7.50 and then £18 per month for a total of 18 Months contract.

Could be BT Infinity, they will not install if you are predicted to get under 14/15Mbps.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • Thank you for the responses re BT versus AOL. I think it was BT Infinity that the guy mentioned so would that make a difference?

BT Infinity uses FTTC (Fibre To The Cab) so it will be faster than copper but BT won't need to do anything to the phone line that comes into your house. I think BT are currently quoting "up to" 40mbps for their Infinity customers (YMMV).

If you find that your AOL broadband connection is slow and you want to transfer data faster then it might be worth upgrading to Infinity.
  • I've gotta recommend Sky.

I've been with BT, Orange, Tiscali (TalkTalk), and Sky are definately the best - in terms of value and service.

The only better service I had was One.Tel, until TalkTalk swallowed them and crapped on the party.
