The best washing powder I got in a long while was Fairy with aloe vera but they don't seem to make it now

Run the empty boil wash a couple of times on the run before you use the machine properly, this sorted the problem out for me a couple of months ago ( well mrs P&S not me )

All sorted now and do the empty boil wash now every few months

On my machine I found that you needed to make sure the little movable pointer type bit had to be straight to sort this out

If the worst comes to the worst, there must be a friendly local washing machine repair person who doesn't charge £lots who could attend and solve all your problems?
