I have today booked a holiday online ticked the box to accept the terms and conditions then when I was going over my booking discovered I had made a mistake and booked self catering instead of all inclusive I immediately telephoned the travel company who kept me waiting for half an hour on the phone then cut me off I finally got through they informed me they were having trouble with the telephones the agent then told me I was talking to the wrong dept they cannot gain access to my information anyway finally got through again all this in less than an hour I asked if I could upgrade or cancel my booking I was informed if I cancel I will have to pay 30% of my holiday cost which would be £180.00 not bad for 1 hours work and they had still not received the paperwork at their office so they can't check anything until the following day I called my bank to see if I could cancel my credit card payment only to be told this could take a few weeks to sort out is there anything I can do.

Go with the SC you booked and agreed to.0

I'm not trying to be rude, but you didn't use a single full stop in that whole paragraph, making it much harder to read. If you edit it, I'd image you'll get more replies.
Edit: Just noticed the one single one at the end. People who are skim-reading a number of threads won't take the time to read through long posts or ones that are difficult to follow, thus reducing the number of replies you'll get.0 -

Cancelling the credit card payment won't cancel what you owe the holiday company and if you do manage to to get the card issuer to agree to this you may well find that the holiday company takes legal action to recover their money.
Cancelling a card payment is really for when goods haven't be supplied or are not as described, but you will be getting exactly what you asked for on the holiday booking form.
Unless the firm agrees to let you upgrade then there isn't really anything that you can do.0 -

I'm confused. Can you not wait until the next day, call them again and ask to upgrade? Businesses are usually happy to take more money from you and it seems sensible to explore all options before cancelling payments.0
