    Nice one! Top moneysaving...
  • Hi all,

Does anyone know if baggage is included. If not how much to add it?

    Thanks

It seems like it is. The online policy schedule says

"Section E - Baggage and passport

    - Accidental loss, theft or damage to Baggage up to £2,000 (up to £250 for any one article and up to £500 for all Valuables).
    - Up to £150 for the emergency replacement of clothing, medication and toiletries if Your Baggage is lost and not returned for more than 12 hours on the outward journey."

It's at http://new.egg.com/visitor/0,,3_72802--View_1489,00.html if anyone has queries over cover

I spotted this when I took the offer up in December, its in the booklet Under the heading 'Important conditions relating to health'

Item 1 - You or anyone upon whom the Trip plans depend has a Pre-existing medical condition.

I spoke with the insurance team on 08451 222888, it seems to be the normal clause I have experienced before, in that you cant claim if it relates to a pre-existing condition, for example two of my children have asthama, therefore I cannot make an claim when it relates to their asthama. How their know of these pre-exisiting conditions I dont know, because I havenot been given the oppertunity to tell them.

    Hope it helps

Lots of cheap / free travel insurances have these exclusion clauses - that's why they are cheap! I have several medical conditions and always insure through Thomas Cook, they are not the cheapest by a long way, but they cover most pre-existing medical conditions apart from (I think) heart conditions, cancer, and terminal illnesses. It is a bit more money to outlay, but I have had to cancel holidays at the last minute on three occasions coz I have been taken into hospital and they have paid up every time.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
  • It was this statment in the Egg Policy summary that gave me the impression you had to pay extra for baggage cover ('MAY' also be included???):

    "Type of Insurance and Cover

Travel insurance for worldwide single or annual multi Trips for You and members of Your family (up to 66 years of age), residing at the same property - Please refer to Your policy Schedule for Your selected cover.
Some winter sports may be included - Your policy Schedule will show if You selected this option.

Business travel and Baggage and passport cover may also be included - Your policy Schedule will show if You selected these options."

Best thing to do is give them a call I suppose. When I took the £20 policy last year I didn't have to tick any boxes or anything for baggage, and I'm pretty certain it's included.

The wording in the policy document certainly implies it is - but always best to be certain

Just thinking...seeing as I bought the same policy for £20 back in November, it's probably still worth my while taking this one out too isn't it? I'm essentially getting an extra 5 additional months of cover for £15. Along the lines of "it's such a good deal, rude to say no!"

    What do people think?
  • It' still worth the £15 even if the baggage insn't covered.

As for taking out the policy again before your last one has finished. This doesn't seem worthwhile to me?

If you still have 5 months left and you paid £20 for it thats the equiv. to taking out and annual policy for £34 (you've paid £20 for 7 months).

I'd stick with the one you have and then see whats around when you come to your renewal date. Egg might still have the offer on or you never know your renewal might be £15-£20. But I don't suppose the later is likely...

  • Thats me saved a fortune I spent a fortune on a single trip policy the other day for a trip to France for the weekend - I now save every time I do this.
  • I'm surprised at how much attention is being paid to the 'small print'. Is it becuase there's a fear that because it's cheap it's inferior?
