[CLOSED] More cheap Egg travel insurance

Hi - I posted this in the Insurance forum this morning, but wasn't sure if it was more relevant here, as the deal ends March 31st. Apologies if this is the wrong place.
Me being a loyal Egg customer n'all that, I logged on to pay my credit card bill this morning (at 0% of course!!) and noticed that they were doing another cheap travel insurance offer like they did last year
I remember posting about it then - think it was November time - and it was £20. This time they've made it £15 for annual family european cover, and you can upgrade to cover worldwide for £35 more.
If I hadn't taken out the offer last time, I'd be doing it again! Plus no plans for holidays on the horizon :-(
It's only open to people with an Egg Card, until the end of the month. But I guess it would be worth taking one out, transferring everything onto 0% and then taking out the offer! Not sure what their timescales for getting cards are though?
I assume it's one of those things where the £15 you spend will override your 0% balance in terms of paying it off - so be careful

Thanks for this I was just about to pay over 20 quid for single trip cover, this'll cover me for a year for less. Also, as I'm going to Tunisia, they class that as Europe, incase anyone else is going to north africa.0

This is a great deal - holidays not until August but cannot afford to miss this deal.
I couldn't see any shortcomings in the cover either...0 -
Excellent price. Unfortunately for me we are going away for a weekend break 19/20 March and the insurance doesn't start until 23rd March even if you apply now. :-(0

Thanks for this... Ideal, going away on 30th March to the USA and £50 for full family worldwide cover is great

Am I being stupid, or is repatriation cover missing from this policy??
AndyIf you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.0 -
I think it is covered, just checked the policy spec and it says:
"Medical expertise to arrange medical assistance or transport home following an accident or illness or if You are informed of a serious illness of a Close Relative at home whilst on holiday."
I'm assuming that's the same as repatriation ?0 -
I took this offer up last year and I'm sure there is a clause in the detailed policy (the one you don't get until you pay) about existing medical conditions...any condition...that if you have one then you are not covered for any medical emergency...not necessarily one that relates to your existing condition, but anything that crops up eg you have high blood pressure but then have an accident and break a leg...no cover! Well that's how it read, and we know how delicate some policies can be with their interpretation.
Anybody confirm or repudiate this?0 -
Hmmm....I had a quick flick through my booklet from last time and can't see anything like that. But that's not to say it isn't there - I didn't read it fully, and it is rather late!! (on which note, it's time to catch some zzzzs!)
Does sound like a strange kind of clause though, although I'd imagine most travel insurance policies would have a similar thing? The Egg policy is underwritten by Axa, so one would assume that what Axa do is mirrored across the industry
Still a great deal though - even though ours was only £20 last time, I'm still envious of the fact it's a Fiver cheaper now...guess that's the MoneySaver in me coming out!!0 -

I spotted this when I took the offer up in December, its in the booklet Under the heading 'Important conditions relating to health'
Item 1 - You or anyone upon whom the Trip plans depend has a Pre-existing medical condition.
I spoke with the insurance team on 08451 222888, it seems to be the normal clause I have experienced before, in that you cant claim if it relates to a pre-existing condition, for example two of my children have asthama, therefore I cannot make an claim when it relates to their asthama. How their know of these pre-exisiting conditions I dont know, because I havenot been given the oppertunity to tell them.
Hope it helpsProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................
