So do you lose the 0% benefit if you take up this travel insurance offer??

You'll still get 0% on whatever existing balances you've got at 0% on the card. I checked the small print of their card, and it seems your payment goes to paying off your revolving - ie interest-bearing - balance first. So this shouldn't affect anything - just make sure your next repayment is more than what you paid for the travel cover

But if you've got, for example, £1000 at 0%, that will still be at 0% afterwards (unless your 0% offer period has run out of course)

great find, i'm going to the states on the 5th of may so need cover and £50 is a bargin!

i've currently got just under 10k at 0% (stoozed) on aniversary which expires 1st of May. I'm gonna wait till after the 22nd so my policy starts on the 1st of april.

my question is can i just make a one off payment of £50 (leaving my minnimum direct debit alone) just after my insurance appears on the statement to pay of the purchase? i assume by doing that my other payments will continue at normal?

I honestly wouldn't like to say. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on card repayments - I'm sure there's others far more in the know.

I guess even if you do get charged interest on the £50, seeing as you're transferring out on 1 May, the most you'll pay is less than £1, and it still makes the travel policy good value

    This quote from the purchase process;
"We'll collect payment for this year's policy from your Egg Card. You will receive a renewal notice with details of next year's premium four to six weeks before your policy is due to expire in March 2006. You will have the opportunity to change the level of cover you have. Unless you tell us not to, we'll collect payment for your next year's cover automatically from your Egg Card on the anniversary of when your policy started."

Next year is not likely to be such a good deal.
This offer is however an excellent deal, just need to remember to cancel in February next year. Thanks Redrum.

I think it is covered, just checked the policy spec and it says:

"Medical expertise to arrange medical assistance or transport home following an accident or illness or if You are informed of a serious illness of a Close Relative at home whilst on holiday."

I'm assuming that's the same as repatriation ?

I'm still not sure. Usually they explicitly state repatriation and the amount they will cover. My previous AXA backed policy certainly was very explicit on this.

This policy however simply offers 'Medical expertise to ARRANGE medical assistance or transport home........'. I would take that to mean they will help you arrange it, but they ain't gonna pay for it.

I hope I'm wrong, but wouldn't want to be without repatriation cover.
If you're happy to sell it to me at a price I am happy to pay - then I want it cheaper.
  • Ok, I phoned them and they state that repatriation is included and full details will be sent with the policy. So I guess I'll just have to hope they're right.

Or rather, hope that you never have to use it...!

I booked the £15 travel insurance. My card has a 0 balance. I also phoned and blagged the £10 credit for using their money manager, even tho I have used it for 6 months. Hope this can help others
