Blimey, that's a bit of an assumption! What makes you think that?

He remembers what he was like at school?

Well if it's really silent, it's probably electric..... And electric "scooters" cost very large sums of money. Just an electric "go-ped" will set you back £1500+.

Weigh up the facts as they're presented... Two young "lads", silent motorised scooter, no plates, no helmet.

You can get those ones that look like a skateboard with a seat and handle bars for about fifty quid on ebay, seen plenty of those ridden round on the pavements.

That's why my first question was aimed to ascertain the nature of this two wheeled mode of vehicular transportation, which is being utilised by these two youngsters.

Have you been living under a stone for the last 20 years then?

IME, most if not all schools have had a local/community officer as a named contact for any issues arising for a very long time now.

Yes living under a stone does have advantages, not knowing just how far down the road to hell we've gone is comforting, bringing ones children up with values and sending them to proper (Catholic in our case) schools helps.

If the OP wants to help these lads with the scooter not get into trouble, have a quiet word in their ear.

If plod spots them the very least he'll do is confiscate the bike and they might end up in the system, either way they'll end up hating plod.

no wonder they need school police: they must be snowed-under with investigations if everything a kid is ever seen with is immediately assumed to be stolen property...

  • unfortunately gilbert & sullivan I cannot have a word with them because normallly they are going on the opposite pavement to where I stand in the afternoon.
Until today that is when before I had even stepped out into the road, they drove around and in front of me and over the road.
I didn't even see or hear them coming!
Sorry about my desciption earlier, when I say scooter, it reminds me of the old fashioned scooters from way back with biggish wheels/tyres.
when I described the noisy pop pops I meant the normal ones which todays teenagers use - where they like to rev up and drive round and round all night.
    I hope that makes sence.
I will be asking my supervisor for advise in the morning.
Thank you all for taking time to reply.
    xx

Key line from that seems to be:
Machines resembling a child’s scooter but which are fitted with either an electric motor or an internal combustion engine, have been determined by two High Court judgements to be motor vehicles within the meaning of The Road Traffic Act 1988.
