Thanks for the advice....I haven't been contacted about anything yet. I am upset and angry and disgusted at the lack of respect for me and the law my husband has demonstrated! We had s big argument about it today. I hope he gets banned from driving for a long time. Ignorant people like that should not be on the road. I will gladly make a statement. Serves him right. If he had hurt someone then I would never ever be able to forgive myself as at the end of the day it's my car. I have been in accidents and know how much pain it can cause. Cars are dangerous!!! I cannot see how this could affect my insurance...can I ring up now and cancel it? I will not be collecting the car so do not need to be insured?
Your anger is understandable. I can't argue with anything you say.
However I suggest you do nothing until the heat of your anger has subsided a bit. Leaving aside any legal or moral issues there will be consequences for your relationship.
I don't think you can or should cancel the insurance until the car is no longer yours i.e. it's scrapped.

Thanks for the link and I read through that thread...although I feel the circumstances are slightly different. My husband was pulled over for no reason (according to him!) and wasn't involved in an accident of any kind (thank god....stupid idiot!!!).

I also find it disgusting that the ops wife only got 3 points and a £45 fine!! (apparently!!) and will be very angry if that's all that happens to my husband!! I expect maybe the policecould think the massive fines for releasing the car / scrapping is enough of a deterrent but in this case my husband also told the truth! (only using rest of petrol then car off to scrap heap anyway!)

I suppose I will have to wait and see what happens! I've been trying to get through to the car pound with no luck and as of yet haven't been contacted about any of this.

Although my anger has subsided slightly I still feel the same. I will be more than happy for the idiot to get a criminal record as what he did was criminal. Cars are dangerous and even the most experienced driver can cause an accident. At least when the law is followed correctly there are provisions such as insurance to disperse more stress than necessary when not at fault. My husband drove illegally and broke the law. I myself will not take any of the 'blame' for his actions.

Cars are not dangerous in themselves. It is the actions of idiot drivers that sometimes makes the result of using them dangerous.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Yes...this is what I meant. Cars are dangerous if you are not able to drive it correctly/have not looked after your car/some other idiot driver Swerves into you when driving at 50 miles an hour. It is only when something goes wrong that you understand how mich damage a car can do.

    Are you leaving him?
If not, it's going to be just as expensive to you as it is to him, as your finances are going to be linked to his.

The charge of allowing a vehicle to be used without insurance basically relies upon admission.

No it isn't. Why do you think it is? See my earlier posts.
