Hi my idiot of a husband (who I have been teaching to drive in my car!) drove on his own today...idiot was pulled over by police...idiot got my car impounded (I have Been staying in another town for a funeral). Not too bothered about car as was going to scrap it anyway (power steering and oil sump need replacing..) and was just using it for shopping really!!! What am I meant to do? Wil I get in trouble? Obviously I shouldn't have left my Key at home or something??? Idiot! What will happen to idiot? Obviously drove illegally and not insured as only insured if I'm in car...is he gonna go to prison? Will I? I am so angry!!!! I don't even know if this is suitable for mse or this the right place!!!!!!

Punish him with no extra activities for a couple of months,
If its his first offence then probably a fine and his provisional taken away,
I think from your point it would be better that he held his hands up and said that he took it and then it will probably get scrapped,0 -
Got driving test booked in a week too!!!! Idiot!!! So angry!! Will this effect me in any way? What do I say to dvla about car? Any idea how much fine is? We are on quite a low income (although no car insurance to pay each month will help as it was £65)...I have never been so angry in my life!! I think it is offence lc20 which is 3-6 points....plus a fine...but that's nothing to do with car insurance etc...so maybe something else....can I just leave my car there? Do I have to go pick it up! I've been driving 10 years and never been pulled over!!!0

I am not sure of the fine it will depend on the judge that day, if he/she is in a good mood he may get off lightly, but you are asking how long is a piece of string with that one.
I would say ring the police station and check with regards to the car, I am not 100% sure.
Punish him for longer then, dopey idiot he is !0 -
Well thats his driving dream over, he has just become uninsurable for at least the next 6 years unless you own an oil rig.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

You need to get the car back asap, every night it's in storage is costing you money, even if you tell them to scrap it.0

He definately is an idiot (my choice of words before this wouldn't be as kind as dopey!!!) I just don't know what's going to happen! So he will have to go to court then? Oh my god!!!!!!! I better not get in trouble or I will divorce the idiot!! Lovely! Well I'd rather they sent him to prison than gave us a massive fine...that'll teach him a lesson!!!! What if he hurt someone? What a stupid stupid stupid man!! Think the no 'extra activities' punishment will last until at least next year!!! I guess we will just have to wait for a letter! How ridiculous!!!0

So I will still get charged for storage until it's scrapped??? Can I get a scrap yard to collect it from the impound then??? Oh my god!!!!!! I don't want to go how embarrassing!!!!!!! A scrap yard will give me £100 for it so that would offset the cost I guess! I just thought they would crush it and that would be the end of it to be honest!!0

He will go to court 100% but I wouldnt panic for yourself personaly, financialy maybe,0

You have to be careful.
If you say your husband was driving with your permission, you may be prosecuted for abetting the offence.
If you say your husband took the vehicle without your permission then he will be prosecuted for taking without the owner's consent.
The offences your husband may be charged with are:
1) Driving otherwise than in accordance with your licence (by not having a qualified driver beside you) - LC20 - 3-6 points and possible disqualification
2) Driving without insurance (insurance is invalid due to offence 1) - IN10 - 6-8 points and possible disqualification
3) Not accompanied by a qualified person - PL20 - 3-6 points and possible disqualificationA kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0
