Well i managed to access the cut off switch, not sure if its that, i can press the button on top as per the youtube link below.
Does this mean the switch is fine and i need to look at other factors?

Is the yellow light with a picture of an engine staying on whilst you crank the car over or flashing ? ...

Hi i am looking for some advice.

I have a 2002 ford mondeo 2.0. It was due for an oil change as the red oild light kept comming on.
Oh dear. That was the I HAVE NO OIL IN THE ENGINE light.

luckly i was ok and i carried on driving, about 500 yards latr there was a rumbleing sound from the engine, i had to pull into the layby as the engine cut out.
I was not able to start the engine again and had to call out the RAC he thought it was the battery but i thought it was something more serious, i had to be towed home.
I think the engine has sized and either needs to be replaced or scrapped, i have uploaded a video onto youtube which i know does not give a macanics guide but im hoping someone will be able to
confirm if it needs replacing or scrapped or, maybe there is a lest drastic or cheaper way to repair the car

    thanks in advance

You have killed your engine because you couldn't be bothered to check the oil and top it up. So the £5 you could have spent on a litre of oil every so often is going to cost you around £1000-£1500.

Engine is not seized as it's turning over.

Doesn't need to be to be dead. Its been running on very low oil for some time. Chances are the bores are worn to hell and the rattling will have been the death throes of the bottom end of the engine. As has been pointed out, the oil pressure light doesn't go out when he is trying to turn it over.

What could cause an engine to crank but not fire from not having oil?
    Even driving it 500yards

It might seize, it might destroy the bearings, but this one cranks over, and the oil light stays on.
Timing belt is supposed to be ok, but if it wasn't it wouldn't crank either.

The yellow engine light stays on while i am trying to turn over the engine.
I realise checking and filling up the oil would have avoided this.

So whats your point, I said the engine isn't seized because it's turning over, which is true.

The oil pressure light won't go out on a car until the engine starts, so thats perfectly normal for any car, go outside and try yours.

The OP hasn't confirmed exactly how much oil is in the car, that would help a diagnosis here firstly.

I suspect from experience that the car not starting isn't an oil related issue at all. By virtue of the fact that the engine turns over means it has oil in it to some degree, it has to or it will seize. SO the engine not starting is NOT related to a lack of oil, it has to be fuel or spark.
