French Knitting - money saving?

  • Hi, I use to do this as a child and I think the "All about French Knitting" is confusing. This one is much more straight forward

Ordinary knitting on two needles is much quicker an less fiddly. there are plenty of instructions on the net and even videos to show you basic stitches

Thanks folks for all your help. I will stick with it and try all your suggestions. TBH I think I am just cut out to be total cr*p at anything crafty. I have tried to teach myself how to knit and i cannot even cast on. Is it something you need to be shown as I seem to get nowhere with books and the Interweb?

I think I just wasted my money...*in tears now*Why am i so useless at this stuff? This is meant to be so easy kids can do it..????

  • The principle is the same though. I used to use a cotton bobbin with 4 nails hammered in around the centre hole, so you can imaging how close they were

    Hey Reverbe!
    Don't get despondent!
This site helps with the 'big' knitting tips, when you feel brave enough to try it:
    http://www.coatscrafts.co.uk/Crafts/Knitting/Howtos/

Every one of these things is a skill - a knack -and it takes a while to get them, but once you do you'll be fine! :) Perseverence.
If it's worth doing, it's worth trying as many times as it takes until you get it right :)

Dunno whereabouts in the country you are, but maybe if you're near one of this lot who knows the tips, they could show you?

    Dont panic,
    Hugs,
    B

I use to do that as a little girl but just with an old wooden sewing reel and 4 nails hammered into the top and a darning needle to turn over the loops. Use to call it cattie's tail as it looked like a cat's tail hehe:rotfl:

I dont currently have sound on the pc so youtube isnt much good :(

I am in West London btw... don't think I am near anyone?

Gracie I wanna make a scarf or maybe 2 for my mascot that I take to the football. So all I need to do is a basic lengthin black and then one in white maybe... I thought this would be easy and boost my confidence for real knitting  I have already planned my first 2 projects for real knitting. Frist a purple scarf for myself, then knitted squares in various blues to make a blanket/throw.
