Mmmmmm I want a Greenhaughs meet pie after reading this thread. RIGHT NOW!!!

Actually, I want a proper Pooles meat pie, but they aren't as good as they used to be :(
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Just been to greggs for my lunch and once again sooo disappointed because its freezing!!They say freshly baked products and have loads of warning on the packets saying 'this product is steaming hot, take care' well no it isnt. I go to a bakery to get a hot pastie/pie if i wanted a cold one id go to the fridge section in a shop.

Is it just my local greggs that always serve cold ones and am i just incredibly unlucky in the times that i happen to go?!

Its really really annoyed me because evertime i go in i think, o ill give them another chance, it cant be cold all the time but im always disappointed!!

Am i expecting too much? Or is it worth writing a letter?!

Btw i ordered a sausage roll, cheese & onion pasty and the new 'spicy one' all of them were cold or to be correct held very little heat in them!

they dont keep food hot(except the new hot sarnies)
so the food is baked and then is cooling al the time
    here's a revelation
    ask them whats hot

They are always scolding hot from my Greggs...they throw them away after an hour and a half, too.

(Or they would, but there is usually a pile of people waiting to see them move the tray out, only to offer to buy them at half price or something.)

I can't imagine a cold Greggs...sounds horrible! Are they not kept in heaters? I must have a one-of-a-kind! Can't say I go regularly, though. I've never really liked it that much.

Here's a revelation - did that, was told it was hot. Guess what? It was freezing cold.
  • Unfortunately it is just luck, the pasties, pies and sausage rolls aren't kept warm so that they don't have to charge VAT on them. This is also the reason why they have ketchup and HP sauce for the breakfast rolls but aren't allowed to give them out with the pasties.

The literature within the store will never say the product is hot (unless it is soup, coffee, breakfast rolls or hot sandwiches) only that it may be hot. You'll notice that on all instore literature regarding the pasties that they are described as 'freshly baked' ie. baked freshly on the premises. Furthermore staff are trained to never describe a pasty as hot to a customer, but to instead describe it as freshly baked.

You can write a letter and you probally will get vouchers because Greggs are very customer focussed.
  • Once my OH bought us a quick snack whilst I stayed in the car. When he got in my pasty was ice cold. So I went back into the shop to ask them to heat it up or give me a freshly baked one. They didn't entertain either request. I was well annoyed!
  • We're disappointed you didn't enjoy you lunch! Yes, you can write to us, or give us a call on 0808 1 GREGGS or drop us an email at getintouch@greggs.co.uk and we'll definitely look into it for you.

Our team members are asked to bake 'little and often' to ensure that you get that freshly baked taste we all know and love and we're sorry that this didn't happen!

Did you ask permission to post?
  • you need to have permission from MSE to post in the capacity of a company.

I think it's quite normal to be given cold food at greggs, I rarely go there since getting food poisoning from there a few years but whenver I do the pastys are cold.
