The churches don't condemn the person they condemn the act or practice. Those who wish to preserve the traditions of the church and the accepted tenets of the faith are fully entitled to do so. If someone wants to join any private institution they abide by the rules or go elsewhere. That is the same for all, straight or gay. I was married in the RC church, and if my husband to be had not agreed to bring up any children in that faith we could not have been married there, likewise had he been divorced. We would have to have accepted that and sought a civil alternative or found a church which would marry us.

I don't feel any church should be made to undertake soething they have strong religious objections to. Fortunately the govt appear to think the same way.

I disagree. My stance has nothing to do with gay or straight, but rather that there are rules we all have to follow if we choose to belong to a church. No one forces anyone to go to church it is a choice, and if you make that choice you have to abide by the rules.

Civil marriage has to be enough for many who do not fit the criteria for a church wedding. If you actually read my posts rather than engage in rant mode;) you will see I don't have any strong feeling about a change in law to allow gay marriage, so long as churches are not forced to undertake them against their will and are protected in law from legal challenge.

Sorry but to say as you are part of a church you have to abide by their rules is a cop out. Common sense states that the beliefs of the church are wrong and outdated therefore I suggest you question those beliefs and look at what is right and not what is "written" as it were. I shall not state this again. There is no talking to religious followers, I know from experience how pig headed they can be.

Please do reconsider your beliefs as if I was part of that sheep mentality I would be both ashamed of myself and damn right embarrassed.

The end. No more from me (although i am sure someone will reply but my point is made)

    Sorry, you married a male?

It is none of my business and I do not care less about your personal life, I only asked for a valid answer to back up your argument. Simply saying "you do not wish to talk about it" is not valid.

Yes. I married a male. (you said if I'd married a make, I'd have been abandoned by my church. With a name like MamaMoo, you think I'm a man?)

Well, a 'valid' answer is "I believe in my God, because my God has lead the way through dark times and provided me with the strength to cope."

No evidence other than some people making disgusting statements that such a natural thing as marrying the person you love is wrong.
I never made those statements, and yet you still called me a bigot. Your claim of "If my posts offended you then of course I apologise to you." is absurd - how could I not be offended when I hadn't made any of the "disgusting statements"?
I will reply to the remaining responses to me then call it a day.
    Sounds good to me.

No, I won't reconsider my belief that churches should be allowed to follow their tenets and be protected from those who have no belief, yet who would challenge their rights to believe.

I think you have made a point, but it is not the one you think you have made.;)

Sorry, my point should have been then if you had married a female.

As a Christian - I try to follow Gods commandments, and any priest that says it is ok is denying his faith and will suitably burn in hell for it.

Just because popular belief is to allow it does not make it right.

where in the ten commadments does it specifically say that its wrong

Spoken by a true bigot (this could go all day couldn't it). No one is born gay - that is utter crap. There is no "gay" gene.

your right there is no gay gene as such
but its down to chromosones that are split into y and x or male and female chromosones men have one y(male) and one x (female) women have xx chromosones where as they have found that some gay/effeminete men have xxy
