You must have bionic hearing if you think you heard what my beliefs are. If you actually read my posts, you'll find I never once stated what my beliefs or views are - you have absolutely no idea whether or not I'm religious, or whether or not I believe that gay marriage should be allowed. In post #238 I said "I've followed this thread with interest to see the arguments from both sides.", but I haven't given my views ... and yet you call me a bigot!

If you can find one of my posts where I do state my beliefs/views then please point it out to us all. If you had any decency you'd apologise for calling me a bigot, but having read your previous posts you'll most likely either ignore this post, or just start swearing again.

The only thing you will find by reading my posts is that I pulled you up on the hypocrisy of your statement:

just several posts after you threw the insult:

As stated, there are no insults here. I just explained what I meant by that. If you are not stating reason like the rest of us then clearly you need to stand up and do so. There is only one answer here, the views of an age old religion that were out of place even 50 years ago are irrelevant.

You claimed my beliefs are bigoted, and yet I haven't said what I do/don't believe. Are you going to apologise for calling me a bigot?

As you are "on the fence" as it were surely you agree that the beliefs of some madcap story are not relevant here?

Stop dodging my question - you claimed my beliefs are bigoted, and yet I haven't said what I do/don't believe. Are you going to apologise for calling me a bigot?

I tarred you with the same brush as the god squad as you didn't state either way therefore kind of skipped over your posts. If my posts offended you then of course I apologise to you.

Thank you, although I would expect anybody would be offended by being called a bigot based on no actual evidence at all.

No reasons or valid answer then.

if you were to fall in a love with a male your church would have kicked you out on your !!!. You didn't and you still are part of that church.

    I married a male, genius.
And yes, actually, plenty of reasons, (all very personal, and therefore none of your damn business) but my faith is my own and I don't have to justify it to anyone.
That should be a valid enough reason for you, if it's not, then that's your issue. I have no intention of detailing the deeply personal (and private) ways in which religion has impacted on my life. Stop being so nosey about something which does not concern you in the least.

Huh? Really? So a Christian who feels completely comfortable with homosexuality, who doesn't think it's a sin wants the less tolerant and accepting members of the church to carry on condemning gay people to burn in hell so that the 'traditions' of their church aren't changed?

What a load of bull! Honestly, that's the biggest load of crap I've read so far. The Christians I know who are accepting of gay people feel absolutely saddened and ashamed that others are still stuck in the 19th century!

Church doctrines move with the times! Being progressive is a good thing! :rotfl:

The churches don't condemn the person they condemn the act or practice. Those who wish to preserve the traditions of the church and the accepted tenets of the faith are fully entitled to do so. If someone wants to join any private institution they abide by the rules or go elsewhere. That is the same for all, straight or gay. I was married in the RC church, and if my husband to be had not agreed to bring up any children in that faith we could not have been married there, likewise had he been divorced. We would have to have accepted that and sought a civil alternative or found a church which would marry us.

I don't feel any church should be made to undertake soething they have strong religious objections to. Fortunately the govt appear to think the same way.
Not when it is clearly wrong. If you think about this hard enough, your beliefs on this are immoral and utterly attrocious to be honest.

Who exactly do you think you are to say that a civil partnership is "enough" for a gay couple???

I disagree. My stance has nothing to do with gay or straight, but rather that there are rules we all have to follow if we choose to belong to a church. No one forces anyone to go to church it is a choice, and if you make that choice you have to abide by the rules.

Civil marriage has to be enough for many who do not fit the criteria for a church wedding. If you actually read my posts rather than engage in rant mode;) you will see I don't have any strong feeling about a change in law to allow gay marriage, so long as churches are not forced to undertake them against their will and are protected in law from legal challenge.

No evidence other than some people making disgusting statements that such a natural thing as marrying the person you love is wrong.

I will reply to the remaining responses to me then call it a day.

    Sorry, you married a male?

It is none of my business and I do not care less about your personal life, I only asked for a valid answer to back up your argument. Simply saying "you do not wish to talk about it" is not valid.
