    When do accounts upgrade out of interest. Will his 11-15 account upgrade at midnight tonight?

    The only thing you can be sure of with Santander is that they will screw something up.

    Why doesn't he just open an account with HSBC , They will give him an embossed card.

    Changes to your Current Account on reaching 16

    A5.1 Within 3 months after your 16th birthday (and if you are
    eligible) the services available on your Current Account will
    automatically be changed to the Current Account services
    for 16 to 18 year olds, and Specific Conditions B: For 16 to
    18 year olds will apply (see below), unless you have notified
    us previously that you wish to have different services with us
    and we agree to your request.
