This is a basic spec refurbished Desktop PC plus monitor and keyboard, aimed to get people using computers and online. But it could well be ok for some people who just want to surf and children.
Its £165 outright, but drops to £95 if you are on certain benefits, or if its for a charity or community group.

Please don't shoot me down about the spec, I just hoped this offer may help some members whose PC may be on its last legs...

My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

I love these threads that end up just bashing anyone on benefits indescriminately. God forbid you should ever be in the unfortunate position of having to ask for help from the benefits system.
OP - Thank you very much for this information.Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0 -
I work in this line of business and believe me when I say that PC's of this spec are 'throw away'. Some places who reclaim these items by taking them from customers sites as waste resell them and in the past I have bought them for around about £10 each including monitor. Only diference being that they would have had Windows XP on them, but perfectly legal with a COA attached to the side of the machine.
Community groups and charities should be able to get this type of machine for nothing from most places as this type of equipment is usually donated etc.0 -
You can get a laptop for not that much more if you hunt out a good deal. The spec will be much better. Don't bother with these dinosaurs.0

not everyone on benefits is a scrounger iv worked for 30 years and due to ill health {stroke x 2} iv had to stop working
always paid tax and insurance and now iv to survive on 60 quid a week
and believe me i will work again i just dont moan about people who are on benefits if thats the way they want to or have to live
i feel sorry for them
not everyone is in a fortunate position to have work or are able to work0 -

So the assumption that its "only benefit scroungers" that will be able to take up these offers:
What about hard working minimum waged shift workers whose wages are the same (probably lower or feels that way once you take out travel costs and etc) then those fully on benefits, those that wont see their wages hit above the £15K mark EVER because this is how retail front line workers (or similar) are valued, or those that due to ill health can only work part time due to essential medical appointments or (should I go on?)
When people who do try to better themselves yet are still poorly paid enough to be allowed benefits just to make the odds up as the fat cat business owner prefers to take his/her month/s of holidays away a year rather then the normal 1 or 2 weeks the minimum wage workers can afford to take, become blamed just as heavily for all the ills of society? Why then do others assume that wages= worth
Just for once stop blaming a "benefit culture" when infact benefits do help many who are in need and infact in many cases could not work without them there, full time or otherwise.0 -
Fabulous, great deal for those on benefits who need access to a computer and don't have one. I fully support this, having been in the position of both tax payer and benefits recipient. Sure, the PC won't sing and dance, but its a basic model to facilitate access to opportunities in many ways - especially for kids or job seekers or even those who have a disability and could use the computer to access a broader community. I will certainly be passing on word of this to anyone I think might know someone who could use it.GC2012: Nov £130.52/£125

Thankyou to the OP for this.. im sure even though, some people on here have commented that these PCs are rubbish.. that the OP was unaware of this, and simply trying to help someone... surely she/he deserves a little grattitude??
Anyway, the reason why i have decided to post, is everyone talking about that this offer is only available to Benefits people..... and if they can afford a computer, then they should have their benefits cut... well, heres my two pence..
I, myself am on benefits, my husband works full time, but due to the pittence he gets paid, we still qualify for benefits, we have 2 children.
yes, i probably could go out and get a job, i probably could go out and work all the hours under the sun... . but i would rather be at home, enjoying the time i have, with my children. .... i dont want to go get a job.... i dont want to come home from work on an evening, knackered, and then only see my children for 2 hours a day... who does??!!
so yes, i am 'sponging' of all you Tax payers, as you seem to see it..... but you know what... i have worked hard all my life, paid into the tax system, and when i got made redundant, i gave the majority of my redundancy pay to a childrens charity... so i give as good as i get too!!
I dont plan on being on benefits for the rest of my life, just whilst my children are still young, and i am happy to take advantage of any offer that comes my way because i am on benefits, wather its free prescriptions, or reduced prices on P.Cs.... why??.. because by God, my Kids deserve it!!!
So please dont judge, if you have never been in that situation before.. and dont tar everyone with the same brush.
