    What Would Bill Buchanan Do?
  • I had the same letter about one and a half years ago. I'm on incapacity benefit and have been for about 3 years. I have depression and anxiety which can be so bad that I'm unable to go over the front door. I had been up at my Mum's for a couple of months after my Dad dying of cancer and my Mum being ill. I rang them up and asked them what the letter was about? They actually told me over the phone that they where investigating me as they had been told that I was living somewhere else and that I wasn't really ill. I knew who it was due to the information they gave me despite it being an anonymous phone call. I went to the interview and explained what had happened and why I was up at my mum's. I was honest with the officer or what ever she was called and got the impression that she was coaching me into saying the right things, she put down that I had only been at my mums for two weeks and made a point of telling me that I had only been there for a couple of weeks.

I have just had another letter from them so I think that my neighbour is up to his old tricks again, we fell out 2 years ago and he vowed to make my life a misery. I rang up today to ask what it was about and was told to just attend the interview as they couldn't tell me over the phone. I have been at my mums a lot and staying here because she has just left hospital after having a stroke. If it's the same thing as last time then I think it's unfair that I need to attend an interview for the amusement of a man who is more sick than I am and I wonder how many times this can be done before they say enough is enough or I do.

I also suspect that someone has contacted the DWP out of malice.

When I was unemployed, I was not receiving a penny in JSA and I still signed on despite having sufficient NI credits for my state pension - I was doing this as I stupidly thought that a 'jobcentre' would assist in ..well finding me a job. Yes - I was naive - but I had never been out of work in 35+ years!

I was contacted by someone from the DWP wishing to come and visit me at home. I was given a contact and I was informed that his visit was just 'routine' - yeah right.

I went on to explain to him that his visit would be pointless as I am not receiving any benefits and lo and behold - he decided not to come.

I suspect the malicious workings of a neighbour instigated the 'investigation'.

    Hey guys

If not for my postman giving me this letter so late 5.10pm I would have called the Jobcentre.

I would start a new thread but I try here. I also received an this sort letter. At the top of the letter it says Our Section - Compliance then the address. Underneath says An Interview about your benefit. Then Dear Nick, please attend Eastbrook Court jobcentre plus at 12th Nov Saturday 9am. After that gives the usual paragraph on if I don't attend this and that will happen. At the bottom please bring proof of ID - Passport or Driving licence and Utility bills/rent agreement/Bank statements. Ends with Yours sincerely Customer compliance.

Just worried anyone know what this could be i'm a single 24 living with my mum had no job started jobseekers August. Also odd that its a Saturday at 9am.
