On friday morning i received a letter from a jobcentre/dwp compliance officer.
stating:
its starts off by saying....Invitation to an office interview. We need to see you in order to discuss the benefit we are currently paying you, as a query has arisen on your claim. We need to ensure your payments are correct and it is essential you attend.
You should note that where there is doubt about whether the conditions for entitlement are met, we can suspend your payments.
Then it goes on to tell me when it is and the ID i need to take along.
I have been claiming Employment and support allowance for 2years due to having and illness called Chronic fatigue syndrom.
I called the man who sent the letter to confirm the appointment and asked him what it was about and he said that i wasnt able to be told over the phone and was to just attend.
Does anyone no what this is about. I have just got out of critical care 2weeks ago and i am a nervous wreck
thankyou xx

Were you claiming "Employment" allowance when you were in critical care? What are the conditions, as you understand them, for claiming this allowance?0 -

yes i was in critical care for 3days, I called the jobcentre when i got out of hospital ti inform them and they said its fine (my mum tried to call them when i was in hospital but they wouldn't discuss anything with her)
i am just really nervous i haven't done anything wrong im sure i haven't.0 -

In that case, just go along to the meeting - and take with you a note of when you called them, who you spoke to and so on. You may then speak with someone who knows better what you are entitled to - it could help you.0 -
If they attempt to place you under caution, get up and walk out.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I have been interviewed by a compliance officer twice - once because one of the mmuppets in the office noticed on my application for Income Support stated that I run a Brownies unit and once because of a malicious phone call.
For the first, I pointed out that I am a volunteer and I have provided a letter from my commissioner confirming that Brownie Guiders are not paid. The compliance officer and I had a bit of a laugh about that - can you imagine how much the girls would have to pay in subs each week :rotfl::eek:
The second interview was an anonymous call to the Benefit Fraud Line - apparantly someone had heard me on the school playground saying that I had 'creamed off' (their words, not mine) some money from Direct payments, which I receive for my disabled son. Furthermore, the person that I had said this to was the person that I pay the money to. A couple of problems with that - the DP money is accounted for every quarter and I don't know how anybody could get away with stealing it. Also, the woman I employed as a DP worker didn't have children in the same part of the school at that time, so we were never on the same playground. I offered to show all DP records and gave permission for the DWP to call the council (who provide DP money), but was told that wasn't necessary.
Although I was nervous both times, neither was particularly awful. I knew I hadn't done anything wrong and I could prove it.
Hope everything is sorted out for you, and that you are feeling better after your spell in CC.0 -
Caution means that they read you a caution along the lines of " anything you say may be recorded and used in evidence against you" if this is said, simply stand up and walk out until you have sought further legal advice, which generally equates to do not incriminate yourself any further by answering questions.
As long as the caution is not given then you are having an informal chat.
However as they just require an informal chat and you are very ill I would recommend you write back asking for any points that need to be cleared up are placed in writing and you will in turn offer written clarification of the information they seek.
This way you will have a written record of the correspondence.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0
