just an idea. look the employer could get a CA which will help them as well as it will waive his right to claim anything under an ET. Both sides win IMO.
OK the payoff may be a non starter, but still worth asking.
Certainly resignation with CA and reference would be brilliant for him.0 -

and thats very good considering what else could happen to him if he hung around.
i will ask again does he have any insurance policies such as mortgage or income protection.
he could claim under those.0 -

Sorry whilst the company would probably accept a resignation they would be entitled to decline it and go through with the dismissal.
yes i agree. thats why he should ask the union to deal with it as they may be in a stronger position to push that kind of deal through.
clearly he has shown himself to be unreliable so a direct approach from him would not help his cause.
whether or not the guy is serious his money while working was useful to the family, so he needs to find a job again with the minimum of fuss.
and i dont like to say it but if he is on the dole he will only be a drain on the taxpayer anyway.0 -

Why would he get a compromise agreement? He has been caught committing gross misconduct and then assaulted someone as a result.
There would be no reason at all to even suggest a compromise agreement. Your suggestions are laughable at best, and a false hope to the OP at worst. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
look this poor woman needs any straw to clutch at. asking the union if they can pull a few strings for him will not hurt.
just telling her the bloke is a muppet and deserves everything he gets is of no practical use to her at all. she knows he is a liability at best already!
however for whatever reason she is still with him, he is the father of her children and his money did come in useful.
im sure he will still be able to resign anyway. i cant believe they will force him through a disciplinary.0 -

False hopes when the situation is blatantly clear are not going to help anyone. The union will NOT be able to pull a few strings!
Jeez.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -

very little a union could/would do
yes they should ensure the correct procedure is followed but he is all but for sure to be dismissed

if he phoned up tomorrow and said im resigning i dont think they would resist.
anyway he has to ask this question surely!! he has nothing else to go on.
anyway he should do it via a union. im surprised he hasnt contacted them already since he is a member.
im guessing its a small establishment.
whats your advice to his missus then?
since youve given none whatsoever so far.0 -
he will be sacked so he needs to find a way out before that happens - perhaps the union can persuade them to let him resign with the payoff he is entitled to under the redundancy process.
Well there is good advice on these board, bad advice and downright stupid advice, this is in the latter category.
He is not entitled to any redundancy as the post has not been redundant! There areno redundancy issues here.
As others have suggested, the OP needs to try and work FT and let him look after the kids.
Long term, serious help is needed from both a financial, health and long-term commitment Point of View.
The advice I would push for the boyfriend is to try for compromise agreement.
D70How about no longer being masochistic?
How about remembering your divinity?
How about unabashedly bawling your eyes out?
How about not equating death with stopping?0
