I've just applied through the stoozing site but how do you know how much to put in the BT box, when you don't know if a) you've been accepted and 2) what the credit limit will be. How do you know they won't charge you a fee for BTs when it only says "may". If I am accepted I am going to ring up to BT. I think that will be safer.

That's always a tricky one to answer. I don't usually put a BT request on my application form for a couple of reasons of which that is one. The other is that I like to have the BT under my control in terms of timing if it is going to pay off another card. Having said that, I did actually put a BT request on my own application for this card and set it at a level that was decent but not over the top given my credit limit history.

Phoning up to do the BT is a wise precaution. However, both the Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank credit card customer services confirmed without hesitation that there was no BT fee if the BT is done before the end of Feb.

How long did they take to reply to your applications and by which method?

  • I just phoned Yoirkshire Bank, and before going through an application for a Yorkshire Bank gold card asked whether the fee free BT facility was in place until the end of February. I was told that this is only open to people who applied on or before Friday 2nd February...needless to say I didn't apply- beware! Have any other people been told this? If they have I guess it's another card to come off the list of fees free ones :-(

I just called clydesdale and the guy wasnt too sure whats going on, he said they keep changing it daily, and it was last friday, now today and advised me to call credit card services direct.

They told me that as long as it was transferred this month can apply whenever you want.

    Heres hoping :)

I called earlier to-day and was advised the 0% balance transfer with no fee finished last Friday.

The guy i spoke to at clydesdale said it was very confused and gave me contact details for credit card customer services direct, they answered for northern rock and clydesdale/yorkshire bank. They seemed sure it was still on till the end of the month. Guess we ill see what happens.

Good card and provider this...card benefits are not bad either, may consider holding onto for future use. For Extended warranties and the like....

If it helps anyone, the BT is actioned pretty quickly for anyone who is cutting a bit fine with another expiring 0% card (like I nearly did this time round!). Took 3-4 days max. The moment you see it deducted from the credit limit amount it means its on the way....
