Do people not reply to party invites these days??

It is also really rude when people ask who else will be there. They either want to come to your party or not. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

Later I bumped into a few of the ones I'd invited and they asked me how my birthday went so I told them. They said they'd been waiting to see who else was coming before replying. Since then I've heard of several other Facebook-invite events going belly-up in the same way.
Real happy birthday that was.
Waiting to see who was coming before they replied??HOW rude!!!:eek:Slightly mad mummy to four kidlets aged 4 months,6,7 and 8:D:D xx

We've booked a pretty expensive entertainer and a face painter(booked before I discovered MSE btw) and they want approx numbers.Party bags..I want to order stuff asap,am 6 months preg and desperately want to be organised but can't buy the stuff if you yon't know who's coming!
I actually got...PLEASE REPLY ON 01234 TO CONFIRM NUMBERS THANKYOU...printed on the bloomin invitations. You know a gentle nudge!:p Maybe those without manners can't read either:rotfl:
how soon do you expect to know for definite from people? I've found in primary school with my DD, invites don't tend to get issued until 2 or 3 weeks (at the earliest) before the party, and the replies don't usually come in until the week before the party (a couple might reply only a couple of days before).
I've also had to chase rsvps before, but have never done a big class-size party, because if folk didn't turn up there would be a lot of waste! With us its been 10 guests including my DD maximum, often a smaller group. Her best friend is always invited, and has come along once - now that is frustrating, but my DD is kind of resigned to it after 4 years of it.0 -
Mum held a party for my DDs, one parent RSVPd by saying she CBA to bring her daughters!!Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0

You only sent them out last week? Did you put a date on that you wanted people to RSVP by?0

 that would be one you kinda wished hadn't rsvpd in the first place lol!0 -
I've also had this happen in the past and agree it's bad manners and infuriating. Especially with Halloween parties when they don't reply then come trick or treating at the door and expect to be let in. Now I don't put all the food all once. I'll cook extra pizza as and when it's needed so if not needed they can stay in the freezer. I'll also keep packets of biscuits and crisps in reserve in case but that can be used after the event if not used. Instead of party bags I do bags of sweets in little fancy cellophane bags (off ebay) and fasten them with curling ribbon to make them look fancy or I buy punch balloons and fill them with rice. I just blow them up near the end when I know how many I need. You can buy them quite cheaply and if you don't use them your own kids will play with them later anyway or they will save for another party and sweets can always be eaten after too.0

I am a bit too organised for some and have given 3 weeks notice.I appreciate some people might not know what they're up to in 3 weeks time but surely if you get invited to a party, and have nothing on the calendar...then it's a yes you can go?
Again I may be living in cloud cuckoo land BUT why is it ok to let people know a few days before hand if they've had the invitation for 3 weeks?Do most people do party prep last minute them?Maybe I'm too OCD for my own good but I get stuff done so I don't have to rush about last minute, especially with this bump of mine at the moment.
Oh bleurgh!! Will just chill and make sure the stuff I buy for bags can be used for my guys or given to friends kids and not wasted.Have a baker friend making special individual cupcakes(pink sparkles/blue sparkles) to give out instead of slicing the cake up..she needs numbers too and notice.Looks like I'll have to fork out for the number I've invited to cover us and if the don't materialise my guys will have cupcakes for dinner:p
Just not very MSE buying stuff you might not even need but hey ho..:pSlightly mad mummy to four kidlets aged 4 months,6,7 and 8:D:D xx
