  • I do prefer a smartphone, but I think the ones with touchscreen and a keyboard provided offer the best of both worlds.

I resisted the urge to jump on the 'smartphone' bandwagon thinking
what the hell the big deal was.

Now I've had one for over a year I couldn't live without it, as sad as
it may sound its the portal to my little life, all my dates, birthdays,
appointments etc etc are synced with Google, and i get free texts
reminding me of them xxx hours / days before, a god send for those like
me who have memory problems, sat-nav, camera, camcorder, emails,
games, train times, bus times, shopping, a hotspot for connecting a laptop
to the internet when out and about if the need arises, a music player that's
replaced my ipod.. and a million and one other things oh and its a phone haha

I don't think I could go back to having a 'dumb' phone now.
  • Thanks for the replies, so what kind of smartphone do you have?
  • I've got the HTC Desire S running android's latest software updated last week (can't remember what version).

I personally couldn't live without mine now (ok i could, but it would be very inconvenient). I use the calendar facility to run my business and appointments, apps to receive payment, emails and facebook to run my business thats before i get into using the calculator on a daily basis, weather, messaging (personal and business) and it gives me decent internet access whenever I need it.

I can't actually remember what we did before

I have the original HTC Desire.. its becoming an old man in the smartphone world but its still an excellent little device, which is still surprisingly selling like hotcakes. got a custom rom on it, not that that
means anything to a lot of people, but its gingerbread and sense 3.5,
RunnymedeMod007 to be precise http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1318370 it adds quite a few features you don't get with the 'stock' software... for us that are part geek.

Smartphones are good as you get the whole phone to accommodate the (touch) buttons. Faster internet. Better apps n games.
Downside can be pricey or commit to a long pricey tariff AND more desirable to thieves!! Easy to accidently press something. Can be bulky.

General - can be pocket money price and a thief might hand it back to you!!!!

I am back using my Nokia 6300 - It's brill really as could never part with it!! Small but packed with Camera/Video/games/memory card/radio/converter/music and media player/voice recorder.

    I've got Asteroids/Jenga/Space Invaders/Strike it Lucky/Super Breakout/Tamagotchi/Mystery Mansion PB/Need for Speed/Scrabble/S.monkeyball/Tetris/Tom+Jerry/Brain challenge/Cats/Lemmings/Millionaire/Monopoly/Spin n win/Puzzle Booble/Connect4/Deal or No deal/Mahjongg/Solitaire/Pocket chef/sims2/SnakeIII. Loads of wallpapers and screen savers/themes.

I've applied to trial a Nokia Lumia 800 phone as Nokia sent me an email. Had to answer a series of weird profile questions.
Don't know if I will get chosen, The Amazing Everyday???
  • Its amusing to read people cant live without a smartphone - of course you can LOL
