Why does society make us feel guilty for taking coins to the bank??

From my experience off working in a bar (many years ago, admittedly), being offered bags of change would be fantastic and would probably reduce banking costs too.
I suspect many other shops would appreciate it too.

They probably do, but I watch them count it too so both of us would have to be wrong then

Did you simply trust that the bags contained what customers said they did or did you count out all those ones and twos to make sure?
Sounds like a good way to get rid of a couple of fake £1 coins I have.

I get quite a few of them fake £1 coins in my change now in the works canteen.
I usually just give them back to them the next day when I buy my lunch. They don't bat a eyelid, but if they did I'd say well you gave me this in my change yesterday.0 -
All my coins go on buying lunch in Tescos with the machines. I know I can take my time, with no staff getting annoyed, and I can happily insert my pennies

Only thing that annoys me is when I've done the maths wrong, with 2p left to pay and I only have a 50 pence piece, DAM
lol "No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -

That's the best reason to spend the change quickly, so it will not weigh your pockets down. Know what's in your purse/pocket:
don'y always get a new note out for the smallest amount.
Only then you'll be lumbered with excessive change.0 -
I'm sure a lot of people (like myself) like collecting change as an alternative way of saving. It's much easier for me to save this way than it is to save via a savings account which I have daily access to.bengal-stripe wrote: »That's the best reason to spend the change quickly, so it will not weigh your pockets down. I don't always pull out a note, I try to use up my change. But I'm not going to head out to town with a pocket full of change... If I'm out in a bar/club then I use notes mainly because it's too dark and I'm too drunk to count my change
And surely the purpose of a bank is to handle money? Why should other people feel put out by this? It's my bank as much as it is theirs
And besides, banks charge business' for bags of change so I don't think it's unfair for them to take them back

If you are too drunk to count your change then how do you know you have been given the right change ? If banks charge businesses for coins then why not get a loyalty points bonus for paying with the exact change. Quid quo pro.
