Why does society make us feel guilty for taking coins to the bank??

Paying in £40 of 50ps in £10 bags wouldn't even take 2 minutes. Try 30 seconds...

Only if they are bagged correctly. If one of those 50p's are dodgy, or the bags do not add up correctly or weigh what they should, or are mixed up that's what takes the time.

I have 1/2 hour for lunch, it takes me at least 5 minutes to get to the bank at lunch time, and 5 minutes to get back to my desk afterwards, so 20 minutes max to get my banking done and grab something to eat. Does not leave a lot of time when the queues are out the door at lunchtime for example.

Oh and often I would leave before 12am to get in the queue first but this don't work cause there is always a queue

Perhaps the blame lies with the banks for not providing extra lunch time cover on the tills.

Doesn't take any longer at all to weigh a few bags of coins AS LONG as they are bagged correctly. The people that mix coin up or put in little notes in bags with what's in there are what causes things to take longer. Everyone that has queued will have a transaction to do so don't feel like you are any less of a person just for paying in coins.

Lots of customers don't actually need to queue for the counter these days anyway as there are so many other ways of doing things. At our branch, we do try and offer different ways of doing their banking.

But don't use the ones in supermarkets as they take a % as a fee

My local ASDA has one of those. However, the newest self-service tills have trays for dropping coins into instead of slots into which coins have to be fed one at a time. These can accept a pocket full of loose change very quickly and for full value.

I was thinking the same thing actually. I barely ever go into my bank now thanks to online banking :)

Try having your lunch at lunch time and go to the bank another time then, just a suggestion.

I'm glad I wasn't just being paranoid! I pay in the correct coins in the correct amounts, bagged nicely and only ever four or five bags at a time but am made to feel guilty!!
    *No debts* ;)
  • I hate customers who queue up, use a cash machine and then join the counter window and withdraw £10!!!!!

I will Ignore them. It is not up to them as the bank teller her self does not mind so it will mean it is completely acceptable ....

If you have bagged the coins correctly then it shouldnt take any longer for the teller to do the transaction than any other.

Where people sigh and get frustrated is where those that havent bagged correctly and mixed and matched the coins or used damaged bags that need the teller to correct it.

If other banks are anything like the one I work for then they won't have enough staff to cover.
