JUST EAT!!! Or not as it happens!!!

I am absolutely fuming!!

i had £20 left in my bank aco!!!! till payday on monday so i thought i would treat the family to a takeaway from Just Eat. i went through the motions and when i pressed validate on my card payment the web page hung for about 30 seconds and then went back to the payment screen and said there was a communication error with the server and to try again. so i did and it declined my payment. i looked on my online banking and saw that the payment of £17.60 had been taken and so i proceeded to ring them to find out what was happening

I telephoned them and an agent looked at the order and informed me that my bank had refused the payment. i informed him that this was untrue as the money had left my account as a debit card transaction for the amount of the order. he then informed me that in fact it was my computer that was at fault and that my money was not taken but had been ringfenced by the bank and i would recieve this money back in my account in about 5 days!!!!

I said this was not good enough! my bank shows that the money has left my account from both my balance and my available balance and i wanted my food as they had my money!!

they basically said sorry no can do. so i am now left with no takeaway, no money to go elsewhere and buy one and some unhappy childre!!!

the agent even told me that this has happened to him on the just eat website, and that it is not uncommon.

so basically be very careful about buying from Just Eat as you may not get any food or indeed your money!!!!!!!

Just eat have took nothing from your bank, the agent is right, this has happened to me on a few sites and there is not much you, just eat or your bank can do.
If at first you don't succeed, maybe bomb disposal isn't the best career choice.

I've had this a few times myself. If you make a fuss (ask to speak to a manager) but remain polite, they can offer you a voucher.

Also, who do you bank with? If you bank with Santander, they can remove the hold on funds :)

how can you be sure that they dont have my money? i certainly dont have it and it has left my bank account? and also as the agent said this happens quite regularly to them so surely this is not a good thing? i bank with Natwest - i am on the phone to them now.
And also MammaMoo says that this has happened several times to her - nsurely people dont think that that constitutes good service?

its on hold at the bank because it held it when you put the transaction through

usually within 3-4 days it will return to your account cause just eat wont claim it as there was a problem it can take 10 days depending on the bank

    I won't use "Just Eat".

The prices on the local takeaway menus are always more than if you order direct.

At nearly a pound extra per dish at the Chinese, that can add up.
