or get an international bar placed, three wont care if you leave trust me I withdrew several in may after 7 years.

:T How about the above, get a bar and 100% wont get charged
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

My daughter actually wasn't to blame in this instance -she ,like us was under the impression that she could not go above her allowance. The calls we were charged for were made to a uk 3 number and she presumed this was only possible because 3 to 3 calls are free. Also on two previous trips abroad the cap was effective i.e. she could not make calls that are excluded from her allowance.
    She has internet texter 500

But they are not free when you are roaming! Who do you think pays the local network operator's charges?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

This is typical of people not understanding how networks work. I'm sure i'd have been the same once upon a time.
To be honest, I'd be more than happy to leave the phone at home if I went abroad.

We phoned a local handyman's mobile number from work recently, only for it to be transferred to him in Turkey! Going to have fun explaining that to head office lol

To the OP, not sure there's much you can do - everyone knows t&cs are there, it's not 3s fault if you didn't read them, unfortunately.

Who is going to have fun? Explaining what and to what head office?

I think it's 3's fault in fact and it's '3' who will pick up £140ish bill.

Explain what? It will be billed at your provider's normal call rate to a UK mobile. The person being called pays the roaming cost.

And although T-Mobile used to have a tariff that did, someone told me it has gone.

T-Mobile offer U-Fix contracts and you can't exceed call, text and data limits, If you use up your allowance during the month then you have to get a PAYG top up card if you wish to make more calls etc,

i think that networks should make it more clearer what u can and cant do when abroad to avoid large bills because lots on here make the same mistake thinking that they can use the phone the same as they do in uk
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you
  • Agreed, we were not informed that the cap on the account may not work when abroad -
