and are they paying you with money that could go towards the cats ransom?0
-
Get them to ask the cattery if the accomodation costs can be cut down to the minimum possible by putting both cats in the same enclosure (if not already done) and see if they will allow the owners to provide the food.0
-
another thing that the owners may not like and that is to sign the cats over to the cattery as they are unable to settle their bills.
also OP it may be worth informing your clients the advice you have received is from a public forum and is not legal advice and then refund them any monies paid for your services.0 -

Rant over, i think tere is more to this and on Monday, will chat to...... county council, trading standards, CAB, ....... anyone else?
oooo
can I watch/listen?
They've contracted for a service for which they haven't paid. What do they expect?
and 'Leave cheques?' I think you'll find that 'leaving cheques' is contrary to their banking agreement - off the top of my head there are T&Cs about writing cheques you haven't funds for...if, of course 'leaving cheques' means writing cheques with some furute date on them.
And they'd be better off employing me - with my actual LAW qualification - IMO.

I guess i'm the only one that can understand where op is coming from.
It's like when people go over their overdraft limit, can't afford to pay it back -- once they have paid it back more fees are due to be added leading into a downward spiral...... it's no different with op's client (who I hope and prey to god by to the 'client' she is actually her 'friend' and not 'legal advisor') who can't afford fees and everytime they get some money together the bill has significantly increased by subsequent services --- where does it end?
As the business are still providing a service they should be paid, that I agree... but I would recommend to op contacting 'cat protection' or other animal houses (or whatever they're called) and see if there is anyway they can help.
There is also the option of trying to get a CC or Loan, but if the lady has a poor credit rating and/or already in alot of debt then this probably wouldn't be available to her. Especially since the fees seem to run into alot of money.if, of course 'leaving cheques' means writing cheques with some furute date on them.
Wouldn't be much use. Banks don't care about post dated cheques and will cash them anyway. The business will know this.0 -

Are they 'allowed' to put them in the same enclose?Anyway,if the 'owner' buys the food for them is it not going to dent the money she's struggling to pay to get them back?If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -

Yes, it's perfectly acceptable to put 2 or more animals in the same accomodation even if they are still in quarantine. Even if it wasn't legal to do so it wouldn't be a problem as the 6 month quarantine period has now finished so the cats can be moved to regular boarding.
I know that supplying food won't have any effect on the money already owed, but it may help to reduce the rate at which the current accomodation charges will accrue.0 -

Yes,what I meant though,is even if it meant the chargers were lower from the time she starts providing the food, surely having to pay for the food herself would mean she could take longer to save the money to pay, which may mean it ends up making no difference? If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
if she was buying the food herself she wouldn't be paying a premium for the food. Cats home food cost - £1 a meal, supplying food yourself = 35p a meal.0
