I wish I could find some Sylvanian families though at bootsales
Have you tried going along to 'nearly new sales' instead of Bootsales? My sil does one every other month. She got rid of a ton of her kids toys on the last one.0 -
I still do stockings for all my kids (20,19,17,15) and will always do them one whilst there is breath in my body.
Im on the lookout now for bits and pieces. When they were kids (and now) I always put a new toothbrush, some nice smellies/ makeup, books, card games or little bits from Hawkins, Percy Pigs, music, pants, socks etc.I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -

I do wonder if I struggle because as a kid we did not have stockings so I have not radition to fall back on. We had plenty of stocking fillers but each was wrapped individually and under the tree with all other presents. Initially I didn't do a stocking for my eldest but he was seeing it so much on Christmas films he asked for 1 when he was about 3 and I've been doing them every since (he's 11) but never hitting on what makes them a success.
Any help?
My parents gave my brother and I our stockings on Xmas Eve. Just as we were sat down with hot chocolate and a mince pie, before going off to bed. They reasoned that it mellowed us, as we could open a couple of nice pressies. I think we mellowed because my dad slipped a drop or six of whisky into the hot chocolate personally
. I often got a lovely new book, which I would sit and happily read quietly xmas morning till we were allowed to get up at 8. 0 -

I've just got most of my stocking fillers this week, i have 2 little ones (ds2- 2yrs, dd-3yrs) and one teen (he'll be 13 by xmas this year!) so for the little ones i have, a small box of chocolates (from s-bury) for dd shaped like make up, for ds2 like a robot, ds1 candy in a tin. (£2 each) i went to the rang* today and got dd- stickers, a new dora cup, book, pens, pads, flash cards with abc on all £1 each. ds2 pretty much the same but in boys themes. I also always put in a tangerine (xmassy!) a cereal bar, and some sort of drink. I never get out of bed before 6.30 so i always put stuff in to keep them occupied for an hour or so
my mum used to do the same with us only she didn't get up before 8 lol so i'm not quite as wicked
I won't spend any more on the stockings so each one has cost around £14 tops

Simples...... It wouldn't fit down the chimney
Every house has a magic chimney that santa can get down on Xmas Eve you know. Thats what my dad use to tell me and my bro anyway.0 -
On the special occassions board some of them do a Christmas Eve hamper, which initially I thought a daft idea, but I tried it. I will only put in mine things that I want them to do Christmas Eve, so small bubble bath/bath bomb, new pjs, dvd for them to watch, hot choc. I have had far more success with this than I have with stockings, since they are getting older I may ask them about changing stockings to xmas eve instead.make_me_wise wrote: »My parents gave my brother and I our stockings on Xmas Eve.
