MIL is coming to the rescue and has invited us (and our washing) over for the afternoon and will give us dinner too.
So not a very MSE or OS day for me at all, I'm afraid
.
Evie - Ummm.....free meal, free washing = rather MSE and OS to me!!

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Hi JulieG,
My apple sponge is simply stewed and sweetened apple with a little cinnamon in put in a ceramic dish and then a normal sponge mixture put on the top.
You have to bake it for a little longer than a normal sponge as the apples make it quite wet.
Also it is always a bit liquid where the apples meet the sponge even when it is properly cooked but you can easily disguise that with custard!
We won't be having it here tonight though as I have been outvoted and am having to make a blackberry and apple crumble instead!:D

Good afternoon everyone
.
Have been quite busy today. Shopping is all done, three loads of washing on the line (seems to be drying but it does keep coming over very dull) and have almost finished the ironing. DD's are in town and DH is in bed as he is on nights so am now having a cuppa and enjoying the peace.
I have been looking through the freezer to see what is lurking in there and i have some sliced chicken in gravy, dated 03/01/11, will it still be ok to use? It would be great if it could be used as it's a tight month this month.
Evie74, what a lovely MIL you have
.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hi all, was up through the night cough cough cough, sneeze sneeze sneeze  felt as stiff as a board , all achy and headachy :mad: so have taken my meds , and am now curled up on the sofa , not a happy bunny and feeling really sorry for myself.Kids had a lovely few days back at school, even ds3 (my poorly one) , he has been given a restrited timetable and now has a taxi to take him to and from school each day. It works out he is in school for just under half a week but he has a webcam link to the classes if he isnt well enough to go in so he can still" be in the lesson". He was at hospital yesterday afternoon and they are happy with his progress but gave him a big long lecture about looking after his health especially over the coming winter months. He has his flu jab on Tuesday (I am meant to be as well but no chance of that atm).
Dd has taken over the cooking for the next few days and I am told we are having lamb casserole for dinner today with mash, and tomorrow is spaghetti bolognaise. Am not moving anywhere ,only have unifoms for dd and ds4 to wash so they can wait as they both have clean ones for Monday.
Haven't read the thread so hugs for all and I will now go back and read through.Have a lovely weekend all.:)Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
Afternoon all
I had a nice afternoon with the girls. my credit card took a bashing - 2 pairs of jeans, sparkly cardi, dress and scarf
But both pairs of jeans are going back as they don't look right. The dress I bought is this one, I saw it few weeks back and it was priced at £95 but now it's £59
. It's to wear to the wedding in New Zealand, and to a wedding evening do here at beginning of Oct.
I also popped to look at a few cars on way home, I'm now liking the Suzuki Swift and Citroen C2 too! it's soooo hard to pick a car! :rotfl:
I'm going to try fishcakes again for tea, any suggestions what to have with them? I got M&S cod ones or salmon ones. Last time I could only eat half the fishcake.
Looking forward to Strictly and X Factor later!
