Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 10th September. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
There is nothing like a lie in on a Saturday Morning, and as it is only just gone 4:30, this is nothing like one at all. Never mind, I'll make a cuppa & then go back to bed to try & get some more sleep.
My son visited us yesterday to chat about me getting a new (to me) car, we had a chat about any repairs needed to keep mine running until I can save up for one & he had a look at my seat belt, it currently has 2 settings, throttle or floppy, he has now sorted that out. We also chatted about his career aims, he'd like to travel & now is the time as he is still young & has no ties.
Plans for today include, housework, prepping more apples, washing & ironing.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Hi Hester - you're up early! Despite a busy day yesterday, I woke up early and just had to have a cuppa; I've been on here ever since.
Yesterday just ran away with me timewise. I had to do food shopping in the morning, then visit friends in the afternoon, coming away with two huge boxes of walnuts fresh from their tree, then we were out in the evening. I also had online work to do but that had to wait because I didn't have the time. I can get it done tomorrow, because it doesn't have to be in until Monday.
Today, I have to prep the holiday home I look after, for guests who arrive on Tuesday, and I have to find time to shell the walnuts - I can't waste them but there's no way I can use them all up, so I shall have to give some away.
The weather was gorgeous here yesterday; shame I didn't have enough washing for a load!
Dinner today will be quiche, salad, and potatoes - I can get it all ready before I go up to the holiday home, then it will be easy to dish it up without having to do proper cooking. Yesterday's dinner should have been something with the pork chops I had defrosted, but we ran out of time and ended up with double egg on toast!
I didn't have time to read the thread yesterday, so I shall catch up with it a bit later on. I hope you all have good Saturdays.

Good Morning Hester and all who follow.
I slept much better last night:j:j:j and feel much brighter now. Still no news about my important decision but might be something in the post later!
Hope you get a rest later Hester to catch up x
I have just run DS1 to work and am about to put a wash on. I have a huge shop being delivered and then plan to make some soup for the freezer. I always get a yearning as winter approaches.
Not much else to say at the moment but will be back later xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
You must have been up early - your title says 10th August, but it's September! Perhaps it's wishful thinking! Long time lurker, but not posted on this thread yet, but love the OS board x0

Morning chums ,was goinbg to have a lie in but I'm one of those folk who when my eyes open I'm up or I lie there thinking about all that I have to do.I must give the house a good clean this morning as its looking decidedly dusty in places. Then I want to make a lemon drizzle cake to take with me to my sis-in-laws this afternoon My eldest DD said she will pop in at some point brefore then so I may knock up an bolied fruit cake for her as well. Then this afternoon I'm off until tomorrow to see sis-in-law Jan and tonight we are going out for a meal .So a busy week-end and no time for lie-ins.All my washing is dry and I'll probably iron it this morning as I hate to leave clothes unironed in the washing basket if I'm away.Oops just had an email to say DD will be down at 12 so I had better get a wriggle on Hope everyone has a good weekend planned
Take care

Morning peeps,
Been up since six. Need more tea. Got lots of clearing out today; not my usual namby-pamby, throw one eep three style, but real, honest to goodness cathartic chucking out. I wont be carbooting or ebaying, it is all going to friend or the charity shop or the dump. Otherwise it will lie in the house forever and a day.
Molly I hope you get good news on the post today.
Hugs spoons and hi fives all round.

Morning all
Well its been a good couple of days here
Have been offered my refund from the bank from PPI and also recieved the money back from my flights so promptly went and paid that off the new holibobs we have booked
Off to work in a couple of hours hopefully it will not be too busy had a complaint made about about me last week but as they complained about 4 other members of staff on the same day not too worried just wonder why when people dont get their own way they see fit to blame everyone else
Not sure whats for tea will have a look in the freezer in a bit need to walk the dogs and then get myself ready for the day
Hugs to all who need them have a good day0 -
Mioliere - can you not pickle some of the walnuts and use them as Christmas gifts? I can find you a recipe if you need one.
Morning all. OH woke snoring at 6 ish so I've had a lovely 2 hrs reading my book. Albeit being joined by my boys. Looked at the house in Nottingham yesterday - it was too close to a busy road for comfort, but next door to a school. I couldn't believe the attitude of the headmaster when we went in to have a look around - "We only have well behaved children at this school (our DS1 has issues!) as if one family is being talked about by the other 63 families then it is detriemental to the child." Detrimental to the child - I'm inclined to write a letter to the govenors and the local authority that will be detrimental to his career - Snobby old G*T.
Made me realise how lucky we are - despite the foggy wet morning we have here! My current Headteacher might be getting a present on Monday. Right better get up and get at 'em otherwise the day will have gone and I'll still be in my PJs. Hugs to those in need. xxMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Morning all.
Woke early-ish and got up so have been browsing stuff on the internet while drinking tea. Very nice thing to do! DH still sleeping, as are the dogs.
We bought matching bedside lamps last night with 3 brightness settings and it was lovely to go off to bed with fresh bedding and the lamps on low. It looked lovely and peaceful in the bedroom.
Need to put on WM with a dark load so that will go on at 30oC. I still usually do 40 instead out of habit but am trying this 30 lark.
Tea tonight is spicy veg and tomato soup and then quorn chilli with wedges or baked pots and a salad. Bottle of wine and Strictly and that will be us. DD is coming over for tea and Strictly as well. Any other fans?
Molly - glad you are feeling brighter.
BargainB - enjoy your night away.
Off to get ready for dog walk - first wake your dogs!
Have a good day folks
