    Morning everyone,

I was determined to have a lie in today after my first week back at work but I was woken at about 6 30 by a very loud flock of geese flying past the window! It is even more surprising as I live in the middle of Nottingham!

Today I have to stay in as I am awaiting the delivery of a new TD.
I know that is not very OS but the repair man says that my old one is definitely dead and the days of being able to peg out my washing every day will soon be over for this year. I have managed without one since March but with 3 children who all do a lot of sport I have finally had to give in.

While I am staying in I have 2 large bags of apples from a friends tree to prepare for the freezer and I think that I will probably make an apple sponge for tea.

I am enjoying the quiet here at the moment. All children are still in bed and OH is out being a MAMIL (middle aged man in lycra) on his bike!

Juliegeorgiana I am fairly new to this thread so I haven't read any of your posts till yesterday but can I congratulate you, your post really made me smile, it was such lovely news.

    Hugs to all in need.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

Morning Hester, Better then 3am I suppose, I hope you get some sleep soon.

Mioliere, can you bake walnuts into a cake and freeze? Maybe they’ll last longer that way?

Morning Islandmaid, Maryland Cookie, bargainbird and esmf73

Molly41, what important decision are you waiting on? It’s agonising waiting for things in the post. My DH got a new job, took them a week to tell him and then TWO weeks to send an offer through the post… 3 weeks of watching the post was enough to do my head in! Hope you get what you want soon x

JackieO, I hope you get everything done and you have a wonderful, fun-packed weekend J

JG – I know that feeling, we started just giving to a local charity shop because otherwise it sits and gathers dust waiting for me to put it on eBay… Have fun clearing J

Tired mum – It’s terrible that everyone is always so quick to complain. I like to thank and compliment people for a good job and will only complain rarely. I hope it goes well for you x

Wmf – I went to 30 a while ago, and use a half dose of Excel Gel… it works ‘brilliantly’ just as they say it should. It’s defiantly worth a go J

Moorhen – Thank You, I have been completely AWOL since 8th June, so many things change, yet others stay completely the same. Also, a recipe for your apple sponge would be lovely… I LOVE apples and I’m about to be inundated with them when I go to my MIL in two weeks (can’t wait)!

Today I slept better, not much for me to do (since I faint when standing I can’t clean or hoover) No washing to be done today either (which I can do sitting down!)

DS9 and I are going to do his homework on Volcanoes (Going to mention Edinburgh castle of course), then he wants me to teach him to draw train tracks (DH has told him he can have a Hornby train set in the Garage when we move, since I am selling my car after Baby Roo is born we’ll have the space) so he can plan and plot what he wants! DH is away running a stall at the Romsey show for the Freemasons and will be away all day.

Still have no idea what to make for Dinner, as I have another cold I have no energy and might just defrost some soup (I can hear the boys saying ‘not more soup…’) but Roo seems to love it, as I eat it for lunch daily J

Hope everyone has a wonderful day x

DS away for today to his dads so a bit of breathing space.
Fatcat back from vets.....they dont really know what is causing the diarrhoea but had more IMABs and a probiotic gel we have to give her tds.
On the plus side her new kidney diet biscuits are doing the job as her blood urea and creatinine levels have decreased:j.
Has cost us £300 in last month so claim form being filled in today;)
Need to dye my hair today....terrible job as it is so long and thick but needs must.
Am making a list of things I am making for presents for Xmas today;)
Bramble as others have said your grandad needs to be referred to OT and physio for home assessment....not sure why they havent already done this as it can take a while...is he safe to go home on Tues if it isnt done? Re the amyloidosis, it is basically a type of insoluble protein deposited in the organs such as the heart, kidneys etc...there are a few different types but from what your grandad has it sounds like it is light chain amyloidosis. This is linked in with myeloma. Have hunted out some info for you online as most of it was aimed at doctors and nurses and I didnt want to confuse you further. This link will take you to a page where you can download leaflets and info.

    http://www.myeloma.org.uk/playground/myeloma-uk-publications/al-amyloidosis-publications/

    Hope it helps.
Bargainbird see am not just a bum doctor;):p:rotfl:
  • Thanks Maryland, I've altered it now, well it was early & I haven't been back to bed, I did the dishwasher & washing machine instead.
Molly, I hope your letter arrives today.
NPM, try and rest while you have the chance.
I've had a phone call about the job & it sounds like I'm a contender for the job, my age & experience are seen as a plus for a change, if I do get it, it will make saving up for a car much easier.
    Hugs Hester

    morning!

weekend off:j:j:j shame I've got a washing and ironing mountain to get through plus housework and grocery shopping:cool:

Just having ten mins on here with a cuppa before tackling the ironing. Have tidied through and mopped all the floors plus washing is in machine. The shopping list is a work in progress - needs to be as cheap as possible and go as far as rubber chicken:D

Molly - hope you get good news today x x

    welcome back JulieGeorgiana!:)

Am looking forward to Strictly tonight:T:)

Have a great weekend all x
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Morning all

Feel a bit more awake today, slept for 8 hours straight. Horribly wet and windy here :(. I'm watching the rugby world cup, wish the matches weren't on so early! I think Wales kick off at 4.30am for their 2nd match!

Last night there was a memorial for the boy who drowned in the dock, there were hundreds of people standing by the dockside, they lit candles and floated them in the water. The story has come out now, boy was under the influence of drugs (miaow miaow drug) and was dared by his friends to go swimming :( so tragic.

Plans for the day....I'm off to meet the girls for lunch and spot of shopping. We haven't done this for over a month due to various things getting in the way! My best friend's mum is currently undergoing chemo so want to try cheer my friend up today too. I may call at few car garages on way home from lunch. I'm super excited for Strictly starting later :D

OS wise - laundry needs putting away, put last night's LO's in freezer, WM may go on with towels later, DW will go on too.

    Have a good Saturday all

Thank you NPM I will take a look at that when I get home. He's seem the OT who is quite happy with what he can manage but needs aids to help, they gave us a bath seat thingy but it doesn't fit his bath! My grandad just wants to get home and I think my nan is just bring over cautious which I understand. But grandad doesn't want anything to delay getting home.

I'm on the train, with and there really is no other word for them, scum. Imagine calling your sister the c word in public in front of your mum!!!

    Morning all!

Since coming home from hosp the other week i keep coming over uncomfortably hot -please please please let the operation have finally kickstarted my menopause (I'm almost 58 and still not got there!)

Hester - good luck with the job

JulieG - So pleased to hear your news :j
tired mum - Some folk will complain about anything (insert rolling-eyes smiley) So pleased your DS has found the right college course for him. My son bought his safety boots at Sports Direct. They are Karrimor and I think he said they were £30, which is a lot cheaper than anywhere else he found. (He has size 12 feet, which doesn't always help!)

NPM - Enjoy a bit of peace and quiet today. Hope Fatcat continues to improve :)

bramble - hope things can be sorted for Grandad to come home. They should have looked into that before saying he could go home next week! Does he live on his own? (Sorry, have just read your post above so ignore this!)
Welcome to our new posters :hello:
Lou - Thinking of you x

Beth - I don't suppose you'll see this, but wanted to say - Glad ultrasound gave you good news, and good luck for Monday. Hope the weekend is/was good :)

Weather can't seem to make up its mind this morning, but will do some washing anyway. DD1 is probably coming to do some hoovering later, but if she can't, we will go to hers instead as we have loads of newspapers which she uses to line the guinea pigs' cages.

Dinner tonight - lamb shanks in red wine and rosemary gravy (sadly not HM as still need to try to avoid too much standing)

Have good day all - (((HUGS))) to all in need of some

    ivyleaf xx
  • Morning all

Had a rubbish start to the weekend as my WM gave up the ghost yesterday :eek:. It's about 10 years old and has been repaired numerous times so I fear it's time to accept defeat. It's a washer-dryer (although the dryer bit broke down irreparably a few years ago - I kept it because we didn't use the dryer much and the washing bit was still working). I can't decide whether to get another washer-dryer or just a basic washer as I'm used to not having a TD these days. Hmmm.

In the meantime I have a mountain of washing to deal with - so MIL is coming to the rescue and has invited us (and our washing) over for the afternoon and will give us dinner too.

So not a very MSE or OS day for me at all, I'm afraid :o.

    Have good days all
