I would do that, but none of the supermarkets are close to me and I do not have a car... topped with having to tow two children around with me... it just doesn't work.

My Grandmother never had a car, had three children, lost her husband during the war, didn't have internet shopping and she managed (no taxis either).

Some of mine must have hunted wild animals with spears, and then dragged them back to the cave, but I'm b*ggered if I'm doing that if Tesco will offer to deliver it cut up in a plastic tray with clingfilm round it.

You do realise Tesco's mammoth steak will be past its sell by date.

I'm too much of an anal retentive control freak to let someone else do my shopping for me.

  • I'm with the OP on this one, when money is tight, things are always stressful and when you are relying on a delivery to feed your family and are let down and on top of that, you don't get your money back to replace the food delivery expected, I would be incandescent.

It appears to me that Tesco did nothing that you would expect from online shopping with a reputable company.

But then I'm a control freak too :D

  • I have to say, some of you have been rather rude to immortalflower. I don't think there's a need for it.

I can understand her frustration, especially Tesco taking two payments for one lot of food, while she awaits a refund. I'm on a very tight budget myself, and if similar happened to me and I too didn't receive a refund by the end of the next week, I wouldn't have any money to eat.

If you are on a tight budget surely you go to the shop and source "whoops" or reduced items thus saving around 25%-30%. You will also save on the delivery charge.

If you are on a tight budget you should also know that the money is reserved and that if it goes wrong this money can take days to get back in to your account.

I wouldn't have known that without reading horror story posts like the OP's. I've only ordered shopping online a couple of times with Sainsburys and luckily enough nothing has ever gone wrong.

Through horror story posts, I've learned that ASDA shopping tends to be very hit and miss and items have short use by dates. I've learned that Tescos returns policy is a bit iffy, so I am grateful to the OP for posting and hope things go right.
