First "make up" for eleven year old
Comments
-
I have an 11 year old, she doesnt wear make up every day but when she does wear it she uses mascara, lipgloss, sometimes eye shadow, coloured nail varnish on her toes and clear on her hands . They have Rimmel in the 99p store. She likes Barry M in Superdrug for nail varnish, but really is happy to use anything.
I dont see a problem as long as they arent dependent on it, its applied properly and not overdone. She knows I dont want her to use foundation and she doesnt own any.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -
I don't count nail polish as make-up, does everyone else? I don't usually wear make-up of any description for going to work/out during the day at weekends etc. But I always have my toenails painted

Thank you all for your replies. I knew some would feel she is too young, and that opinion is valid, but as I said it will be subtle, supervised and for "special occasions". She just wants to join in when mum and big sister get ready to go out.
I will look at all the brands suggested and think I will get just a couple of actual make up items, maybe neutral lip gloss and clear mascara as I said earlier, then a pale nail varnish (thank you balletshoes) and some nice bath stuff (bath bomb or one of those pretty little 'cake' soaps) definitely no foundation or other skin make up. I already have a lovely suitable cosmetic bag I can put them all in.
Some of the brands suggested I am not familiar with at all, so thanks all for your suggestions.0 -
I was wearing make-up at eleven (now 30), wore Boots 17 foundation, powder, brown eyeshadowns, mascara and rimmell heather shimmer lippy.Everyday to school.
I know some people are shcoked by the idea of eleven year olds wearing make up - but i don' think its that uncommon. If you look a mags aimed at that age them come with freebie make up items. I would much prefer to buy my daughter products she can experiment with that i know are a decent quality.
I would try and buy a funky pallet with loads of different colour eyeshadows so she can experiment, a tinted moisturiser, brown mascara and a couple of lipglosses. That'll give a her the feeling full face without looking too old or made up.
I think as opposees to just neautral shades i would go with a little bit of colour - especicially eyeshadows - even if she doesn't wear them out she will have fun playing and experimenting.
I would second Naatural Collection ( as its fragrance free and dematologically tested) for tinted moisteriser, mascara and lipglosses, and then something like this Beauty UK eyeshadow pallett. Also maybe a blusher?
Also if budget can run too it; a brush set and something to cleanse with - even if it it something like pack of simpple wipes.I'm so boring, my clothes wanna keep someone else warm, someone cooler0 -

Most items are £1.50, the dearer studio range is slightly more. They usually have promotions like free delivery or a free gift every other week
Another vote for elf. Very cheap, the quality is fine and you could get loads for your money. It will allow her to experiment in the house so she doesn't leave the house looking like a crazy drag queen! If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Can you only get ELF online?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

yep - they have a 50% off this weekend0

Another vote for a palette of eye shadow colours to experiment with, plus some remover so she can get into the habit of ALWAYS taking it off afterwards.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0

Show me a little girl who doesn't like a little bit of sparkle! I can remember pushing my LO in her pushchair through Boots one Saturday. There was me picking a new mascara and I looked down and she was covered in pink eye shadow, lol. Just wish I'd had the insight to take a picture, as it was so funny. That was her just playing at being Mummy...except I don't wear pink eye shadow, especially not on my nose and forehead :-)0
