First "make up" for eleven year old

Sorry if his has been covered, but I have been asked to buy "make up" for my niece's eleventh birthday as she covets her older sister's make up.
SIL, sensibly, would like it to be kept very low key and it will be worn for meals out/parties only. We are talking natural lip gloss, clear mascara etc.
I am thinking Body Shop. Does anyone here have any other recommendations?

How about Miss Sporty? When I started wearing makeup I used that brand. It does seem to be aimed at younger girls. They have a wide range of subtle shades that would be suitable but with bright, attractive packaging. They sell it in Superdrug and Boots and they definitely have clear mascara and pale pink lipglosses. They also do more colourful nail polishes she may be allowed to wear?0

A lot depends on her skin, cheap make-up cheap ingredients, and how much you want to spend.0

Boots Natural Collection is actually really good for the price. It's all 3 for £5 and they do lip gloss in both squeezy tubes and with a wand. They have a few sparkly ones too if she wants a "fun" one.0

Sorry if you think I'm a killjoy but I really don't think 11 year olds should be encouraged to wear make-up.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Seconded, I used nothing but Natural Collection makeup and toiletries between the ages of about 13 and 16. It is definitely good value for money - it's cheap, but doesn't feel or look cheap.:www: Saving for a deposit - Target £30k by 24/03/14 (30th Birthday!) :www:

This takes me back- I used to love going to the thrift shop at that age and buying Constance Carroll - luckily my tastes have improved since then! Agree with shellsuit, MUA would be a good range, Superdrug also do 2tru which costs £5 for 3 pieces. My only caveat is that I would stick to nail varnishes, pencils, lipsticks and dry powder products. I don't believe that skin make-up (ie concealers and foundations) should be used on young skins.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I would like to suggest elf, which is eyeslipsface.

Most items are £1.50, the dearer studio range is slightly more. They usually have promotions like free delivery or a free gift every other week0 -
11 is far too young for makeup of any kind. Let her be a child as long as you can, they grow up too soon these days.0

I think I was about 13 when I got my first make-up - from my older cousin as a Christmas present. I still remember it to this day, 30ish years later. It was one of the best presents I ever got, just a little pink bag with a mascara, blusher and eyeshadow in (they were all Rimmel). I felt so grown up, and kept it all for years (I wasn't allowed to wear make-up out of the house until I was about 15).
My DD dances, and has had her own stage make-up (which I keep, she doesn't have access to it) since she was 4 years old (its completely separate to mine because none of the colours she needs for the stage lights are remotely flattering on older skin lol).
I'd go with Natural Collection, or the Superdrug version - lots of neutral colours and she can add to it/get more bought for her for presents etc.0
